the page is literally crashing and has over 700k people online right now. new members will sign up because of in all honesty FOMO.

new members does not equal boomers. What you’re saying is they’ve gotten a bunch of new members and you have no clue their ages. Not trying to pick an argument here, but to assume they are boomers is false.

and the crazy thing is if you head over to r/wallstreetbets they are dead fucking serious about holding. they will not sell no matter what and it’s a risky game they’re playing.
i checked it out a few times but theres just too much craziness. I was able to get into their discord before it filled up and the voice chat is hilarious. Sounds like thousands of 16 year olds just arguing with eachother.

i guess you’re right, but reddit is much more popular with younger users. given the fact that reddit is crashing right now and it’s bankrupting wall street the majority of new users would probably be older who had no idea reddit had pages like this

We oscillated between Family Home Video or Blockbuster.

I don't really recall when or why my parents picked one over the other, but I don't think the Family Home Video place closed before we moved away.

Blockbuster probably did what corporate always does.... drive down prices and offer the consumer more for less.... loyalty program stuff.... until the local spot was run out of business.

Remember when you'd go in to a Blockbuster and if you went looking for something new, video game or movie.... it was like a 10% chance there would be a copy available lol and if you were a kid looking to rent a new game.... and there was that 1 copy remaining on the shelf.... you felt like you won the fucking lottery lol.
Thing with Blockbuster is that there was never one that close to us, so it was always an adventure when I got to go. Ironically one of the Blockbusters that was built brand new in 2000, was build on the former spot of a Builder Square lol. Once I could drive on my own in 2004, my friends and I went all the time, sometimes never even actually renting anything lol.

But, the low prices and bigger inventory is what Blockbuster did as a corporation. Them and Hollywood Video were driving the local guys out, the Blockbuster crushed Hollywood Video.

Yeah, I feel like they never had video games we wanted, including the local joint...we often just rented obscure games.

thats speculation. It’s possible you’re correct, but it’s also possible that it’s just more younger people getting FOMO. Reddit had been kinda down in traffic from what it was until this wall street bets madness

Ah ****!

Hollywood Video.... that is the one that moved in near the Family Home Video and ran them out of business.

The Blockbuster was 5-10 mins away.

Ima invest in Hollywood Video and short Quiznos!

In regards to GameStop, So I guess this is my big question: at the end of the day, the only people being affected by this are these hedge funds, right? The hourly employees and middle management types aren't going to be fucked are they?

naaa it’d be the opposite. Young people tend to have limited capital. If it’s a ton of boomers, then it will last longer because they have much more capital than the younger generations do

VIX popped up over 60% today. It’s about to get really choppy. This is just the start of it

You'll need to explain to me how first.
Idk, maybe people realize the market is overvalued? Just wondering if this would somehow lead to a correction. It seems to be pretty big news lol

Just don't try to time the market.

Just throw your money in regardless of the state of the market and hope for the best.
Thank you so much,I can now invest with confidence.
