With the volatility, unless your playing the downside, I think most are still going to lose big. IMO. When's the last time anyone has seen a market anywhere close to this volatility and the market was trending up? 2009 after the crash?

Earnings are going to be shit, we still haven't seen the bottom yet.

My confidence in another 20% decline is increasing everyday.

I bought ROKU, IBM and PTON over last couple of days

PTON will lose you $ in the long run...it’s a fad that people will forget about. I made a little $ with some option puts on it recently. I like the other two buys, though

As long as people hold what they bought and don't try to trade their assets, I think they'll be okay if they hold long long-term. But I get the feeling people think the markets will just automatically soar in a few months. Not going to happen. Corona is going to stick around a while and there will be huge implications on the global economy for years to come.

Either the f***ing world will end, or I will make money on the positions I am buying.

There really is no other option to me.... I can hold the positions I've bought or will buy, for 12 months, 24 months, 36 months....

Anyone buying right now with short term money and short term gains in mind are f***ing idiots.

If you're buying right now, it is LONG.... it is money you've held liquid for this kind of opportunity.

And if you're doing that... you want to hold 12 months or more anyways so you can take advantage of capital gains taxes vs personal income tax.

meh, if you shorted the market today, you got rocked...Short it Thursday or Friday if you must

its pretty much an every other day short it. I’m shorting it tomorrow and already up 10% just from the after market action. 1 day shorts have been doing well for me

You must be killing it

sold it off when I got up about 20%. Then threw those profits at some cheap stocks. Rinse and repeat. If tomorrow bounces back up, I’ll take out that SPXU again after it rises up a good bit...in anticipation of a Friday sell off.

he’s not wrong. Starbucks just announced they are implementing drive thru procedures and shutting down all in store operations in the US...stock is rising now from like $51 to $55.

also, Starbucks said it has re opened 90% of their stores in China. Should be telling for how long we can expect this to last in the US. We will be back up and running come May sometime, I think. Question is what it’ll look like when we do

On another forum, there are actually some people advocating that we continue as is until a vaccine is available. Fucking nuts man!

Anyone got an opinion on real estate buys?

I have seen a few REITS are in the tank much like the market, but is this whole thing going to create a really soft market all summer? Or are we going to see it be slow until this blows past and the real estate market will zoom this fall?

I am of the opinion that this hurts the RM through until next spring. There will always be some buyers and sellers, but if covid hasnt settled down by early fall I think we have a surplus of available buildings all winter.

Have a small position in RYVNX. Not trying to day trade right now. Once we get to some resemblance of a market, I will dump. I expect to make 20-40% on this position in the next 30 days. Up 23% in the last 3 weeks ATM.

Other than that have a lot of dry powder ready to go when things start to settle down. I expect early - late May, maybe later, before I start DCAing back in.

We haven't seen the worst of things yet.

I've been watching cruise line stock (CCL, RCL, and NCLH), along with MGM. They all held steady or recovered a bit today, so I held off on buying any of them. I don't own any shares of these companies, but I'm wondering if tomorrow or Monday, on the heels of worse Covid19 news, these stocks may take another tumble. Holding out for now to see what Friday/Monday bring.

yesterday was a pretty good day to buy a position in MGM. Not to put in all the $ you intend to, but maybe a quarter of it. I got some more of it for just above $6 a share. Now it’s up around $8. I also got a chunk of Wendy’s yesterday at about $7.15 a share. Today it’s up around $11.

cruise lines are harder to play with IMO. They rely on an older demographic that even when this is over, may be hesitant to go cruising again. The casinos will bounce back sooner because gamblers are degenerates. They would be in the casinos today if they were still open lol
