Yoga and massage. I know that sounds pretty hipsterish, but man has it helped me. A good massage by an accredited therapist can work wonders for stress, even without the happy ending.

A massage is one of the first things I do when I'm feeling too stressed.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the time issue - I do, but it's a lame excuse.

You could do push-ups, sit-ups, squats, burpees all at home. Plus there are more than a few apps that can download to pace you with those things. And there's always running.

I like how you use the word 'simplify.' Don't spread yourself too thin.
It's just right now, I have a massive paper, trying to get an internship and work, plus the other work for my other 5 classes, so I can't just go to the gym for an hour till next week possibly, it's all procrastination at its finest which I need to work on, takes time I guess. Just a rough patch right now is all, just never had it get this bad before.

By the way Yoga really does work, unfortunately while Yoga is going on on campus I am in class during that slot, so I'm SOL there unless I go somewhere else, but you can't really beat free and convenient.

Ahhh, well I can certainly understand where you are coming from then. I had one of those hellish semesters as well.

The only way I got through it were the times I could shut my mind down for a bit, or when I could do something just on my eon that I enjoyed. As an example, ISU had a small shitty bar that did jazz music. I'd go there, alone, have a drink or two and just relax. Kind of sounds like a stoner thing (which I'm not), but it provided a decent escape.

I know this idea will be laughed at, but about 7 months ago I decided to hire a secretary and got rid of my smart phone. I have a pay as you go, simple cell phone used only for emergency. I no longer even text. I like it and don't miss feeling I have to have a smart phone or I'll be left behind.

Freedom!

I got rid of Facebook, kind of a general comparison, think I've been just trying to be too negative towards life, my girlfriend pointed it out, I get no joy out of life anymore, nothing seems to make me happy "except alcohol" which I disagree I quit drinking for a few weeks because I was drinking more and enjoying it even less.

I think this plays right into the earlier post about slowing down to go faster. Sometimes you simply need a mental break to be efficient. It's much better to shut down, relax and hit something fresh than grinding at it with little results.

As far as the procrastination thing goes...my best recommendation is to just start. You can do anything for 15 minutes right? So do the most important thing you have to do for 15 mins with full concentration, no distractions. Before you know it you will be an hour or two in making great progress. Then give yourself a break and then hit it again. There are a number of time / priority management systems out there. A personal favorite of mine is called Zen To Done. Pomodoro is another one that might help you, since its focus is mostly around time.

I think my other major problem is that I refuse to accept help or seek it or, and I don't want to talk it out. I told my girlfriend verbatim that if I had a punching bag, some angry music, and a room alone for an hour I'd burn off any anger I have. For whatever reason when I resort to violence it helps. However, in regular life you can't just snap at anything so I bottle obviously.

I think that's a symptom. The root, from what I can gather anyways in this thread...is that you are simply overwhelmed. Dealing with that is multifaceted. On phone right now, but I will come back and write some more if you want to hear it from someone who has been there (albeit a different set of circumstances).

Ok. I will do my best when in front of a computer. Hopefully some of it is helpful.

Um not trying to derail. It really is a real suggestion. Marijuana. Done responsibly in your own home and after your days work is accomplished. I use to have a horrible anger problem. I still do, but the cannabis helps me relax and see things for what they are. It helps with anxiety and other things for me. Im not saying go out and rip the bong a thousand times in a night. Just enough to relax your body and mind. Way better for you then Doctors trying to shove those pills down peoples throats.

Also, find a hobby. I know you think you have no time, but there is always time. For instance, I cook for work but my most relaxing time is when I am in my kitchen by myself just creating. I dont think about the outside world. I am just in my own little world and I love every second of it. You need to find something like that for you.

Life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent of how you react.

Hope you find a way to relieve it man.

Criminal Justice major wanting to be a State trooper bud, herb is not an option for me or another 40 years at least lol. But a hobby would help, unfortunately mine are sports, and we had a hell of a winter up here, so we aren't in the clear yet, starting to get nice out so that means more outside activity finally.

Stay away from the Bulls forum. That will definitely decrease stress.

Whatever you do, DO NOT start a blog. Studies here at CCS have shown blogging to be a stress/rage enhancer, leading to chronic unemployment and strawman rampages.
