I'd be happy with a Garza announcement that might even pre-empt the Tanaka announcement.

Tanaka was headed to the Yankees the whole time.

There seems to be an unwritten rule that the Yankees get whomever they want to stay competitive.

This is why baseball needs a salary cap to take all the entitlement and bias away and level the playing field.

I agree with Capt. Serious. Let's really examine this report:

1) It was made by the YES! network initially;
2) It was made some time between 2 and 4 am JAPAN time;
3) The bidding has been confidential; and
4) The attorney/agent wouldn't disclose his clients interests without his client telling him to, and, again it's between 2-4 am that this report came out.

What I'm getting at is the report alleges that Tanaka is closing in on a decision when he likely wasn't even awake. Said report was made by a network with an obvious bias. Did the YES network talk to a Yankee executive? If so, how can the Yankee executive affirmatively state what's going to happen from here on out? What if the Diamondbacks come in with another offer that blows the rest away between now and the time he announces? I don't buy it.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Toledo Rockets
I don't believe anything until the deal is done (with any team).

No one knows for sure. Within 48 hours the Cubs went to the favourites, to the long shot, and now the favourites again.

With regards to the Sox, here is what we know: (Courtesy of Soxtalk)

Hahn: We had a meeting with Mr. Tanaka, it was exploratory, we won't disclose anymore information about it to respect his wishes.
Kenny: We believe it won't come down to just money. We're in this.
Rock: $20M is the Sox per year limit. Had all the calculator nerds in office to fit him into the budget.
Bucket: ...if someone thinks the Sox are out of it, they're wrong.
