There is nothing but hate that could make you say he is better than cutler.

He had a better season last year than Cutler ever has, and like you say he's young and thus can get better. I don't know what criteria you use to put cutler over Tannehill other than emotional homerism. Even if you call them a wash, Miami with a younger player is hardly on the list of teams who have a worse QB situation than the Bears.

Ok? That's not the point. It's not "hate" to put Tannehill above Cutler. Tannehill had a (much) better season last year. He's started off rough..but overall so has Cutler..Tannehill might only end up having one good year for his entire career. So far Cutler has only had one good season too. So in response to where Josh Freeman or Ryan Tannehill are now? Freeman is unemployed and Tannehill is the starting QB of the Dolphins. If Tannehill's pattern holds then the Bears will trade for him in a year or two.

Like I said Josh Freeman had a better season than Cutler ever had then fell off a cliff. He hasn't had a large enough sample of playing that well to say he is better. You were saying kapernick would be the best qb in the league after a small sample, maybe you should learn from your past mistakes of anointing qbs too early.

Just to review here you're currently white knighting for a QB with a passer rating of 83. You're lecturing people on learning lessons?

How am I white knigting a qb by saying only like 5 teams have a worse qb situation? Cutler is a mistake prone above average qb, but there aren't many guys who can even be that good in the league over a long period of time.

lol who's anointing him? Saying he's at least equal to Cutler with more upside is hardly an MVP endorsement, it's just saying he's decent.

Ryan Tannehill has had one season better than Jay. The rest of his career has been worse overall. Factoring in that one year, he's still been worse overall.

Cutler is what he is. But that's better than Tannehill. I think some of you are so far gone in this get rid of Cutler debate, that you fail to see exactly what he is. Without him, we would be sunk, just like we were in 2011.

As far as drafting a QB goes, get your head around the fact that Cutler is here for at least one more season. As a result, they are going defense or olineman this year.

Cutler being >Hanie/Clausen doesn't really mean anything of value.

The Bears have been "sunk" with Cutler at QB for approaching a decade.

I think what people don't realize or choose not to realize is that it is hard to find QBs in this league that are even as good as Cutler. There are 75+ quarterbacks on active rosters and only 20% of them are as good or better than Cutler.

Actually, when the Bears decide to move on Cutler is really the definition of easily replaceable because he's the definition of an average QB.

I don't understand what people who watch football nowadays seen in Cutler that is some irreplaceable skill or talent.

He is not "easily" replaceable. It is very hard to find someone in FA as good as him. You pretty much need to draft 1st or 2nd round and develop. That is not "easy". It is hopefully what they are going to do, but it is not easy and there is risk.

Really? Then how do teams keep cycling through assholes like Kyle Orton and Ryan Fitzpatrick every season that put up similar numbers?

Every single year for the most part Cutler is outperformed by some scrapheap QB that a team traded peanuts for or signed for almost nothing.

Okay, but name one objective measure that places Tannehill above Cutler?

Rating 85 versus 83
Win percentage .508 to .462
Yards per attempt 7.17 to 6.73
Completion Percentage 61.7 to 61.4
Touchdowns per pass 4.7 to 3.8

The only argument is interceptions, but Tannehill turns the ball over himself. As the TD-Int ratio is 1.41 to 1.49.

In other words, an objective analysis puts Tannehill behind Cutler (with a much more talented team too)
