I could bring up tannehil, Smith, Kaep etc but let's be real you'll find something totally irrelevant for why they deserve their contracts and use that just like use used yards for Stafford.
Come on- At the time Stafford signed that deal he just came off of 2 years where he went over 10000 yards, had 61 tds and 33 picks.
Nowadays he does not deserve it, but at the time, he had 2 full seasons under his belt and the above numbers.
Of course he deserved the contract.
Since he has been crapy since, not so much. But the contract was one that at the time, 31 other GMs would have offered as well.
Kaepernick signed his in 2014- after a NFCCG trip in 12, a superbowl trip in 13. I personally never jumped on the Kaep train, but how do you argue with a 4-2 playoff record?
Again, he sucked ass after the deal (before in my opinion). so now it is dumb as hell.
Alex smith has played great football in KC. He was the exact perfect fit for KC with his 2 mistake free seasons in SF before his injury (30 tds and 10 ints). He comes to KC and takes a 2-14 team to 11-5 and the playoffs with 23 tds and 7 ints.
3 playoff games on 2 teams, never thrown a pick in the post season and has averaged almost 300 yards per game, 3 tds and 0 ints.
Tannehill- They jumped the gun on that one- one years performance last year that was really good... but it looks dismal right now.
However- every single last one of those guys made a FAAAARRRRR stronger case for a big contract extension then our guy in chicago.
Cutty got signed the year after he got punked by his backup,4 seasons removed from his last 16 game season, and 4 years removed from his last 20 touchdown season.
Seriously, how can you look at the situations in which those contracts were offered and say with a straight face that everyone other than cuter didnt deserve their contracts?
How can you say with a straight face that the contract given to cuter was anything other than one of the worst contract decisions a team has offered a guy in years in the NFL?
