...and the first goal deflected off Hammer's stick to Ovechkin, which threw Crow's timing and positioning off.

When Nordstrom took the penalty in the 3rd to put us 2 men down in the 5 on 3 there was 3:33 left in the game . Eddy called the time but failed to pronounce treeturdytree. WTF Just because he's on NBC he avoids the dumb Pat and Eddy giggly humor.

I've only seen that penalty Nordstrom took once before at the UC and it was Keith. Not an easy thing to do sailing the puck up and out 200ft away.

That said, with all the emotion, the Hawks played well. Capitols got lucky on 2 of the 3 PP goals, first was rebound directly off Hjarlmarssons stick to Ovechkins blade and one of the other two was a deflection from a point shot 2ft in front of Crawford.

Killing off the almost full two minute 5 on 3 was just awesome.

First team in 4 years to win on Banner night.

I was surprised the ref made the right call and gave Hossa that goal at the end of the game.

The Hawks looked pretty good. Washington got some pretty generous bounces on the PP, otherwise it wasn't a very close game. The only thing I noticed out of place, was the Hawks were squeezed into a tight box on the PK. Other than that, was a great game!

Part of that was the Caps PP. Which I believe was the best all year last year.

Beat me to it. 2 tips and one weird bounce off of Hjammer's stick. The other one he might have been playing a bit too deep but he came up huge on the 5-3 PK.

Any way you slice it, it was good enough for a win. :)

They went 2 for 3 vs. the Flames, so they're 5 for 9 this year. not TOO shabby!

They are young guys. They always want to be squeezed into a tight box.

But you're right about the PK. New slogan: take a big box for the team!
