The main argument for putting shootouts into the NHL was so teams would stop "playing for the tie" right? What a dumb excuse... and I'd rather watch real hockey than a skills comp.

It's like ending a tied baseball game with a home run derby or a basketball game with a 3 point contest... grr shootouts make me pissed.

We'll we could play 5 minute OT periods till we have a OT winner. Baseball has extra innings, basketball has five minute OT periods. Only pro football has a tie (if the teams are still tied after the OT quarter).

Folks here have said no OT till we have a winner due to travel when a team has a back to back game the next day.

Doofus. You obviously go first, Why would you want to go first?

First off, don't call me Doofus. Only a numskull would go first when you could go first.

I think it's time to give Lepisto some ice time, and scratch Montador.

I dont think montador has been as bad as people make it out to be. No need to bench anyone right now. Montador will get a good test on tuesday as i am sure he will be seeing some of the ducks snipers. im all for giving montador a lot more time before throwing him to the wolves.

I am surprised how no one has commented on how well the hawks as a team overall have done well to stay out of the box.

One last thing and its not a biggie as it is about the shoot out again. Im not sure if i care about how well players are in a shoot out in practice. Im not sure if if that ever works as an idnicator as how someone will fare in a game situation. Its not really a big deal though. Going with a guy thats been having a good game on said night usually fares better than picking the guy who has fared well in practice. You know..maybe it is a bigger deal to me than i want to admit. It shouldnt be.

Absolutely. Montador has done absolutely nothing special, and has fucked up pretty badly several times. That goal scored where he backed into the crease last night was 100% his fault. He has also missed a lot of good chances to put the puck in the net.

He's been worthless.

They aren't benching Montador.

Get over the idea cause it aint happening.

If they bench players who cause a few gaffs a game and miss a net here and there then the entire team can be benched.

You guys are just looking to hate on the new guy cause it's easy to do. Give the guy some time to play. We aren't even a month into the season and we have a strong record to start off.

And I thought I was bad at torching players early.

No, I'm looking at giving a quick young puck moving defensemen some ice time, because he has only played one game. I would love to see Lepisto over Montador, and Olesz over Stalberg.

I would do the Olesz over Stalberg I agree.

Im not 100% impressed with Montador either but I think it is just way too quick to be benching him. Lepisto aint that young. I agree a puck moving blueliner would be nice at the 5 spot. 100 bucks says when Lepisto does or if he starts playing more games he will be a goat also. Not sure why everyone is so high on him..he ain't that good. I'll take Montador a vet over a guy like Lepisto anyday. That's just me though.

No one is ever happy with the 5/6 on their club. It's a defensive pairing that can never win over the fans because everyone wants 3/4 quality guys playing there. Ain't happening. No one likes Sopel when he first started playing here..he turned into a fan fav. Give Montador some time. There is a reason why he has had a long career and guys like Lepisto at 27 can't find a stable home. As the season moves on and games get more and more important I feel more comfy knowing a guy like Montador will be here. You will see guys like him upping their games and blocking more shots etc etc as the season moves on..trust me. That's really all I want from a 5/6 pairing...some defensive reliability and effort at that end (Montadors efforts are there in my opinion). I actually don't care about offensive abilities of that pairing at all.

And if they go on any extended losing streak you might. But he's not going to **** with a line up that's lost one game in regulation in 7 games.

Actually I think OD has outplayed the shit out of Montador, so this has nothing to do with not being happy with the 5/6.

sure would have been nice had he hit the wide open net last night. Right now I think the pairing is fine. Lepisto will get his shot at some point.

THIS!! OD has played very well, I have no problems with him. where was Montador on that goal? he watched dude in the crease just put the puck in the net. 4 on 1 and he misses the net. The guy is a + player, but that doesn't mean much when he is invisible out there. I want to see Lepisto and Olesz, and I would like to see them without having to lose a handfull of games, but Q plays favorites, we all know this. Why else would Stalberg be on the second line now when he has been outplayed by Carcillo?

Anybody else think Ladeskog may have been offsides on that last game tying goal? That puck went back and forth over the blue line just before the pass to him. He was 10-15 feet into the zone when he recieved the pass. Wish they had a better camera shot of him crossing the blue line and where the puck was. Moot point now regardless. Anyhoo Q lost that game IMO.

Stalberg half assing it back into the play as Landeskog blows buy him standouts as I watch a replay, but it appears he was on sides.

so another reason to scratch Stalberg?

Instead I'm sure he will get 20 minutes next game.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
I disagree, that 4th line was crazy the minute he put Carcillo there. He's a 4th line player with fringe on the top lines from time to time.

Mayers-Carcillo play very well with each other.

Laru your head is up your ass, tripping on Seabs no call and clear holding on Kane near the end. Listen to No Check Laru, hands on stick? dumb ****.

I gotta admit having no penalties on us is kinda strange though!

I think my only problem in Q's descsion making is that he exchanges a 4th line player with fringe on the top lines for a 4th line player that has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt he cannot play on the top lines.

I think TCD has hit the nail on the head--Stalberg just doesn't have the skill to do it regardless of speed and work eithic, and it seems the coaching/management is just too blinded to see that (kinda like the manager who refuses to fire the deadwood employee they hired because they don't want to admit that they fucked up).

I agree with your assessment of swapping Monty out--with the way the team has been playing--no need to panic yet. Not just for Monty, but guys like Stalberg as well. I think the coaching staff is going to leave everything the way it is until we go on a losing streak.
