Sorry folks not to sound like a party pooper...but chalk up another loss today. This Kings team always plays us hard..unfortunately for us..we are not last years team and we are missing one of our top D-men. 4-2 kings. I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, but the Kings are without their top d-man in Doughty, so we're even in the excuses department.

I don't have a clue how this game will go. I am hopeful that the Hawks will bring it and wipe out the Kings. I think I'll stick with that hopeful thought.

I was just surfing the handy dandy World Wide Web, and I noticed that TSN has Wings, Preds and Blues numbers 1, 2, and 3 in NHL power rankings. Obviously not true, but just a sign that Hawks division is right now the best in the league, and getting W's in division games may be a little harder than the last few years.

EDIT: and just a reminder I've got tix i'm looking to get rid of for tomorrow's game. Sec 332, row 10, seats 1-6. I'll take 30 each, and that's a frigin deal! will split in pairs.

It was true for 1 week and that is what Power Rankings are, stating who was the best for that week. They are not predicting how they think the teams will finish in April.

This might have been mentioned but Kaner is playing 3rd line per ESPN. Some moron commented that Kane was overrated and deserved the 3rd line minutes. Yeah so overrated that he finished 9th in scoring last year. Yes overrated that he won the calder, silver medal, stanley cup, and finished 9th in scoring. Sounds overrated to me.

He's got 7 points in 9 games. It's just under a point per game. Anyone that thinks he's over rated is an idiot and only need to look past his CALDER and name on the STANLEY CUP TROPHY.

You forgot the most important thing that makes him overrated. He scored the game winning goal in Philly.

Well Q had to do something to try and generate some secondary scoring. I'm worried about the Kings. They are scoring in bunches right now.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Lines be damned, I'm still not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling about this game.

We'll see though...I'd love to see our passing become tape-to-tape and us get at least some sustained pressure, but my gut is teeling me it won't happen.

I'd love to be proven wrong, though.

But he's not as good as Turris.

That just never gets old! But my favorite part about it was at the end of the 2008-09 season when the Turris proponent tried to justify his position anew by saying that if the Hawks had drafted Turris, they wouldn't have done as well as they did that season with Kane and they would have had a much higher draft pick. So the fact that Kane turned out to be a much better player than Turris was somehow detrimental to the Hawks. Classic stuff.

Kane will be fine. I do hope he starts focusing more on the defensive part of his game because he's so damned quick, he could be great at backchecking and stealing the puck if he put his mind to it. I still believe that will happen in time. But I do think Q is trying to push him in that direction with this line change.

Hawks 5, Kings 2.

Definitely classic stuff. That guy should have crawled in a hole and never posted again ANYWHERE after those posts.

I'm good with the line changes. And really, we should be used to it by now. The line changes during the Cup finals were the most radical and we all know how that worked out.

Yes, Kane needs a big kick in the ass, and hopefully it'll wake him up some. But there's other guys who also need a wake up call, especially Keith.

I expect a better team game tonite and a 3-2 Hawks victory.

I didn't see it mentioned yet, but I'll point out that we get Jonathan Bernier in net tonight for the Kings, instead of Jonathan Quick.

Take it for what you will.

These lines actually make sense, if you look at it from a coaching perspective. Kopecky is a hard worker, and busts his balls every shift, giving 110%. Sharp has had issues in the defensive zone playing center on Kane's line. I actually think Kopecky would make a great center. Maybe not a second line center, but playing with Hossa, I think he'll be fine. He's always one of the first Hawks back into our zone, and playing with Hossa has really made him a better two-way player. He's also very strong on the boards and wins puck battles. Look for that line to have a good game, and look for them to more than likely play in a shutdown role tonight.

I don't see Kane on the third line so much as Kane being demoted, as it is Q trying to get Bolland going. He is giving him a blazing fast winger that will cause problems for the other team, and a guy that can snipe and set him up when Stalberg causes turnovers. This line looks GREAT on paper, to be honest. We need to find out eventually if Bolland will ever be a second line center, and this is a good opportunity. Stalberg has been backchecking line an animal the last few games as well, so this line should be fine defensively, as long as Kane remembers where the defensive zone is.

The fourth line is what it is. Dowell is nothing but a fourth line center. Pisani has been brutal even strength, so cutting his minutes makes sense. Bickell since the first few games has lost his tenacity. Hopefully this gets him going. No issues.

First line, no issues there either. It will be interesting to see how Skille can play with a couple of all-stars on his line. He's looked good so far with a fringe NHL center, and Stalberg. Sharp and Toews score goals together shorthanded, so really, what is there to worry about?

Q is trying to replicate three dangerous lines that he had last year. I like this.... but seems I'm in the minority.
