They aren't stuck with him, but they are stuck with his cap hit. He could retire if they thought he was just too old for the job. They will not allow a loss like that every 3-4 games that's for sure. He'll get another couple of starts either way.

I seriously doubt they waive him to Rockford though. Or would be suprised if he went.

I just don't think it's much better to bring up Raanta. The guy has played 8 games in North America, let him at least take a dump in an American bathroom before throwing him into the NHL.

could be right, he'll get the time he needs, but the Hawks can NOT afford to get demoralized every 3-4 games either. Two more performances like that, I think Khabi will retire. Then it's Raanta. And really, I'm ok with that.

I also don't think Niemi got much better in the AHL or gained a lot of experience. He ulitmately lost the Ice Hogs job to Crawford that year.

Those are not good numbers for an ECHL goalie. How the heck would he be good in the NHL if he had those numbers in the ECHL?

Yeah, they are good in the ECHL but we don't know how they will translate to a faster and better skilled league such as the NHL. The ECHL is filled with ex-college prospects and low end draft picks. What's his record against high end prospects and guys just barely on the cusp of the NHL? 3.33 ga and a .915 save % doesn't scream quality back up in the NHL.

Neither does a 4.74 GAA and a .818 SV%.

Meanwhile through the first 7 games, in which the team is still learning chemistry, Raanta is .920 and 2.63 GAA...
