Stalberg sucked all last night until that one play. He was easily the worst forward on the ice per minute. He missed some other great scoring chances. There wasn't one of us that wasn't yelling at him all night. He did not play well last night, he had a good play. And that's been the knock on him as much as anything else inconsistency. Remember last year when he had that 3 game stretch or so... He came here, sucked, then showed why they got him for a few games, then sucked the rest of the year but people won't let go of the few games he's played well... Guess what, he has one move and you saw it last night. That's not enough to keep him on this team. He needs more. And he'll go right back to sucking. I'm glad he had a great game last game, I didn't see it actually, and I'm glad he had the game winner last night, but he should have just as easily had a goal in regulation and not cost the team a point. See how that works. If you want to say he was the reason they won the game last night, and not stellar play from Hossa and Kane, then I can make the assumption that his hands of rock cost them a regulation win, and he handed the preds a point. The guy had a gaming winning speed goal playing 4 on 4... 4 ON 4. That's why they play 4 on 4 to open up the ice and increase the chances of scoring.
I will be the first one happy for the kid if this is him finally breaking out. If he can keep this up then this team will win the cup, because it's obvious that they have the top end talent, it's the bottom pieces that they need to win. They addressed the grit with Mayers and Carcillo, and they are still looking for that secondary scoring, if Stalberg is it great, but there is no denying that he has sucked until this point. One good game, and a OT goal doesn't change anything, it's only a start.
