I don't think Brouwer or Kopecky have earned ANY top six minutes. To be honest, they should both be getting fourth line minutes until they start playing like it matters again. They were both on the fourth line for stretches last year, and that seemed to get them motivated. Then again, none of the guys from last year have really earned top six minutes. In all seriousness, this is what I roll tonight if I'm the coach.

Stalberg/Toews/Kane

Skille/Sharp/Hossa

Bickell/Bolland/Pisani

Brouwer/Dowell/Kopecky

Reward the guys that are playing well and "carrying" the team through the last three games. Stalberg scored last night, and Q didn't even give him 9 minutes of icetime. What fucking sense does that make? Skille with two goals, and not even 12 minutes.

Seabrook/Keith

Hammer/Soupy

Boynton/Hendry

Going to be hard to watch this game.

I'm not saying he's wrong, but it's a LOT easier to coach this team from an armchair than on the bench....

I agree that Skille and Stalberg deserve MUCH more ice time, and the D-pairings are just shy of certifiable insanity.

Does anyone else believe that the "Circus Trip" might actually be a good thing in the long run? Maybe some time to bond and help the chemistry? Grr I don't know.......

The "long run" for this season may come down to the remainder of November. A month that so far is circling the bowl. For the month, the Hawks are 1-4-1 against opponents with a less than stellar record for the month at 12-13-4(Back out their record against the Hawks and it's 8-12-3). The Hawks have been outscored 6-3 in the 3rd period this month and that does not include empty netters.

They played a Rangers team without Gaborik and a Devils team without Parise. Scored 1 goal against the Yotes back up goalie. The kicker? After giving up 1 goal to the Hawks last Sunday, the Oilers have surrendered 25 goals in 4 games. And now it's a Anaheim team on a roll.

The 8th seed in the west last season had 95 points. Do the math. **** the bonding for the long run. Just win games.

Is it just me or is Kopecky on his ass after seemingly every goddamned face off he's on the ice for?

I heard Brian Burke was in the house. Perhaps spending some time now second guessing himself for trading Stalberg. Then again, he probably has little time for that, instead spending most of the time second guessing himself for the Kessel trade.

Leafs are jonesing for goals, and just called up Nazem Kadri, who was the #7 pick in the 2009 draft.

Ya gotta think Hawks are discussing another possible trade with Burke if he was here.....

Maybe a trade will help wake up the team the core. wouldn't be surprised if hawks were thinking trade in large part for that reason.

Again, the last thing this team needs is another trade.

What a great win for the team - Go Hawks!

Some observations:

  • Nice work by Kane on the first goal being right where he needed to be... the key was also Sharp's one-timer instead of hesitating and giving Hiller and their D time to get in position. It helped give Kaner a lot of net.
  • Huge game from Crawford, particularly in the third and in OT. Huge credit also goes to the PK at the end of the third and in the 4-on-3 in OT.
  • Another nice game from Stalberg and his ridiculous wheels. Can I start the Appreciation thread yet?
  • The end of this game was the loudest the crowd has sounded to me (on tv) since the banner raising.
  • This is a perfect tone to set for the circus trip, beating a hot Ducks team in the UC.
  • Hiller's mask is weird.
  • Congrats to the Hawks on a hard-fought, much-needed win!

Big win today. I didn't realize that the Ducks were so hot. Hopefully they will get some momentum going.

Take that win and ride it. There were lots of positives in that game. 5 on 5 just needs to star finishing the chances (lokking at you JT). Toews otherwise had an okay game. I say okay because a few times after losing board battles he stopped skating. Not JT like. But he did work hard tonight. I think most guys did.

Crawford had a veeery strong game. For a back up those are not easy games. Been a fan of this guy for a while now and I didn't think we needed Turco this season and thought Craw was ready. But this was the right way to go about it. Get him some NHL games as a back up. And I have nothing against Turcos play this season. I am loving that there is no goalie controversy on this team. That is the last thing we would have needed right now. Then again maybe if there were the spotlight wouldn't be on the other problems. I kid..it's great to have good goalkeeping and no issues there.

Back to the game. Duncan had a horrible night again despite creating the game winning goal from the spot where he should be shooting and away from traffic where he has been shooting into peoples skates time and time again. Not sure what's up with Keith his inconsistency is driving me crazy!! He really is the only guy I had an issue with tonight to be honest. I thought everyone else was good enough. Just wish the finish were there for some of the guys. It will come..it has too. These 1 goal games are killing me. So is letting the opponent score right after us. AGAIN!! REALLY? Must be a record.

I am loving Stalberg more and more. Love watching that guy skate.

PMX needs to be banned from chat. So does Stu. And mine aswell boot TSD while we are at it. Nana needs to go too im disgusted by her eating habits.

P.S. Why was Burke at the game? Please don't get into a trading relationship with the Leafs. PLEASE!!

I fell asleep after the first period, so can't say anything, other than hooray for the win. It was about damn time. Now if they could string together a couple of wins it would be even more peachy.

Just one thing to say. If we played the entire game like we played the OT, we would be dominating like we were last year....

Overtime was intense - that was the best 5 min of hockey we've played all year. The fire and intensity were there and it was nice to see again. Now if only we can find a way to bring that out again during regulation this team might be able to turn the corner. Nice win!

Hiller's mask looked flat black, what's up with that?
