ty conklin's statement keeps true today, as hawks stay alive. Score...it doesn't matter since the NHL is making sure they stay in.

So Bettman is a Hawks supporter? Good for us I suppose.

I don't know about that, but why wouldn't you want the defending Stanley Champs in the dance. Makes for better viewing and ratings.

There is no predermined outcome. Just like Carolina missed the playoffs the year after they won the Cup.

At least we know "someone" will be around tonight to open the chat..!

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
If there was any game that defined "Win by any means necessary", it's these next two. Unfortunately, I have to miss probably the 1st period, but I will get to catch the rest.

Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but name me an orignal Six team that won the cup and not make the playoffs the year after.

Probably happened once or twice prior to 1967.

Since then, the Cup has been won by an original six team 18 of 43 times.

Habs - 10 times

Wings - 4

Bruins - 2

Hawks - 1

Rangers - 1

Leafs - 0

Remind me the last time the Leafs made the playoffs. Prior to two years ago, minus 2002 remind me how many times the Hawks made the playoffs from 1996 to 2011. I'll help, 3.

While the league might benefit with the Hawks being in the playoffs they will do NOTHING to help them. If they were we'd have not lost in Motreal in OT because they never would have called that bullshit penalty.

There is no conspiracy and there is no "help" for one team or another to get into the playoffs. That's crazy talk.
