How is not playing a center who has played with Kane through a bulk of a season compared to playing a center who hasn't played much at all with Kane not common sense? Or a guy who helped the Hawks win a cup last year playing center and within the exact same system over a guy that never existed as a Hawk until late in this years and wouldn't be in these playoffs at all unless Shaw were injured. Same guy that 9/10ths of the fan base wanted to see sent to the farm a couple months ago. No one had even heard about him before and it's not as if he was a rookie or a prospect either.

Are you guys listening to yourselves? It's Peter Regin we are talking about here!!! Step back and think about that for a moment....please think about it. I really hope there isn't some sort of realistic ideas in your heads that Peter Regin is going to be the answer for Kane and the second line. PLEASE.....stop and think about what you are saying. You guys are funny. You have to be trolling now.

I'm not trying to defend Handzus hes obvioulsy washed up but I am certainly not in a camp that believes Peter fucking Regin would have been the better option at 2nd line center than Handzus. OIIIII VAAAAIIIIII. At what point do you look at Peter Regin and start thinking to yourselves...theres a better option than Handzus. Seriously when does that moment happen and are you chasing those thoughts with zoloft? Fucking Peter Regin a better option than Handzus. Kill me now please.

Yes it's Peter Regin, like I said, a replacement level player and a better skater than Handzus, which automatically puts him above Handzus as a better fit for that spot. You're right, it doesn't take much. No one is saying he's a really good player, or even a good player, or "the answer", there is no "answer" this season for that spot, he's simply better than Handzus for that line. Better, that's all and it's not saying much. Like I said, I'd take Shaw over any of them. Or Smith, no matter if he's more effective at wing or not. No one is saying any of these players are going to be this amazing revelation that blindsides us, they're simply going to be better options if only because they can fucking move faster. That alone beats out whatever horrible chemistry Kane and Handzus have with each other that's resulted in absolute shit production.

Regin as Kane's C?!?!

Kane's production can't certainly become worse than it has been with Zeus.

Like if someone were to tell you the stat line of Kane and Handzus throughout the entire season and Q would still insist on playing them together through the playoffs?

Yeah Handzus played well last year in the playoffs. But it's not last year anymore. He has his job and he's doing it well on the PK and he can play 4th line minutes. That's all he should be good for at this point in his career. Not trying to create offense with a top line, not with any team.

How much more fucking proof do you unrelenting Q defenders need? Here's a nice quote from a certain player regarding Smith moving to 2C and why their play improved as a result:

As coach Joel Quenneville searched for the right line combinations against the Blues, he found Smith was up to the task.

"He does everything the right way," "He plays on the right side of the puck. He makes simple plays. He makes smart plays. He makes hard plays. So knowing he's going to do that kind of stuff, we can react to it, anticipate what he's going to do.

"We're not caught waiting to see what Benny is going to do. We know his style of play. We know what he's all about. When we're all on the same page like that, we play faster."

Those quotes are as much an indictment on Handzus as they are a compliment to Smith.

Key quote? WE PLAY FASTER.

I trust that now that the Hawks are down that Q the magnificent line generator will change some things.

Q said after the game he's going to look at the lines.

Imagine that. Hopefully he hasn't already thrown this series away. Took him way too long to adjust last season against Detroit and it almost cost them. If Handzus is anywhere near Kane in game 4, the series is over.
