Yeah....get on the ice...you're demoted to playing as many shifts as anyone else.

It's actually called - managing the bench/putting players in position to succeed and coaching

Why would they play him up 5-1 in the third period? Oh..because he was "demoted" Bickell had 4 more shifts than him :eek:ccasion-partyangel: :eek:ccasion-partyblower: :eek:ccasion-snowman: :eek:ccasion-xmas:

My favorite teams
 1. Portland Timbers
 1. Chicago Blackhawks
If you're a puck possesion team you have to possess the puck. That means when you got it, you keep it, and if you don't have it, you get it back. </captain obvious mode>

Shaw and Saad in games 5 and 6 were actually pretty good at maintaining posession and hemming St louis into their own end. In game 5 is was invariably Versteeg whould would posess the puck for too long and refuse to pass or get it to the net, and would get his pocket picked. Swap in Smith in game 6 and the 3rd line looked incredibly servicable.

Thus, I have no qualms about Versteeg sitting 'cause Smith played Versteeg's role better than Versteeg. He helped the puck possession game by not disposessing it, like Versteeg.

At least Hossa, although snakebit, also contributed to the puck posession cause by reverting to being a defensive stalwart like he usually is and forcing turnovers and refusing to cough up the puck. I do think he and Sharp need to dent the twine more.

I think Morin should have gotten a shot to play the 2-odd minutes Nordstom played, but C'est la vie. I'm pretty sure Morin will get a shot if Versteeg didn't learn his lesson. I'm sure John and Troy enjoyed having him get their coffee.

As for Zeus/Bollig, I have no problems putting Zeus on the 4th line and limiting him to PK duties. He does well there. If Bollig is swapped out I wouldn't lose sleep (Especially against the speedier Avs) but he's been invisible, not a liability (like Versteeg). If he's saved for low-risk situations to give the stars a breather fine. If they swap in someone else fine.

The only thing that worries me into the next round is if a player is playing poorly (a la Versteeg), Joel Q. Tugnutt may not pressbox them soon enough. The time for playing favorites needs to be curbed in leiu of winning.

Why would they play him up 5-1 in the third period? I don't know, but your BFF Q gave him his only real shift of the period with 37 seconds left in the 3rd, when they were up 5-1. Maybe because he sat the entire third period, along with the rest of the 4th line, and the game was in the bag at that point, so it didn't matter?

You've quite clearly lost your fucking mind, and it's pointless to keep watching you contradict yourself over and over.

Shifts, whether they be 7 seconds, or 1 minute, are all the same.

Not that you would understand, but lets try to make this simple for you

You open up - on the road - against a good team, well coached

Guess what - you don't have last line change. What do you do?? hmmmm. You try to dictate lines/create matchup issues

Q splits up - Toews - Sharp/Hossa - Kane

Now Hitch has to decide who Piet/Bou is going to match up against to start shifts...and now the other Hawks can match them on the back end of a shift - getting an advantage.

Your "line 2 had handzus" cry fucking baby rants yet his ES time wasn't top 6 - which would be your "second line minutes" you cry he got. He drew a penalty. He sprung Sharp for one of his breakaways. The team was within 1:45min of winning.

But cry that Handzus was on the "second line" and Q was drunk.

Game 2...on the road - AGAIN. Don't have favorable matchups and want to make it difficult on the other coach/team. Easily should have won that game too. Handzus being on the line with Sharp/Hossa did not cost them the game.

Game 3 - pre game skate had same lines. You whined like a schoolgirl that coach pez doesn't approve. Well lets see, as the home team he can now dictate matchups and does just that. They go on to win the next 2.

At that point of the series...there have been injuries, different tendancies and matchups. Players were getting put in/out of the lineup - by who? Hitchcock. Why? Because Q had the upper hand in matchups all series. Handzus wasn't "demoted" to a lesser role - regardless of minutes. You're not "demoted" when you're put out there 25 shifts a game. When someone (handzus) plays more in PK roles in first 2 periods...that means Kane/Sharp/Bickell aren't on the ice. So what does that mean? Players move "up" lines (Smith) who are more fresh, younger, stronger and more able to double shift and/or play more. Nothing to do with demotion. Way more to do with matchups.

As Hitch started sitting Reaves more, Cracknell, Lapierre and Porter - which was huge mistakes - it shows how much Q was dictating matchups every game of the series.

So that's why you balance lines out, on the road, in games 1 and 2 - and have success (yes, short of winning) - to force the other teams hand.

Versteeg was the only player "demoted" in the whole series by the Hawks

His strategy was so successful in games 1 and 2 that Hawk forwards managed....1 goal in 9 periods.(With Sharp, Toews, and Kane together. Imagine that.). So successful that the Sharp/Handzus/Hossa line was a combined -6 in those first two games. He sure showed the Blues with those crafty line combos. The only people he was making it difficult for with those line combos was Hawk forwards. Namely Patrick Kane, who was on an island by himself on the third line for most of the first 3 games.

Handzus wasn't demoted... the same way Handzus single handedly turned around Kane's +- . A player like Kane racking up 8 ES points all season with you as his center. What more can you ask for? A player moves up to take your spot in the top six because he's younger, faster, stronger, and better, and you aren't getting demoted. It's just a matchup decision. Anything I'm missing here?

You are completely devoid of logic on this topic. You are to Q, as Variable is to visors and fighting.

Yes...Handzus on Sharp's line kept him from scoring on his breakaways in game 1

That's all on him

Your crybaby attitude on who plays on what line is manic. Let go of it...sniff sniff.....or poor pez is going to be mad at Q next time they lose wahhhh

Its rather easy to defend one of the all time winningest coaches, 3 time cup winner, most liked coach by players in the history of the game.

Your insults, so clever... I'm not sure which is worse. Your arguments being 100% contradicted by facts, or the fact that my first grader comes up with more witty insults. Your chirping abilities need some work.

You make the mistake of believing that I give two shits about your opinion. I don't. I'm just bored at the moment and watching you continue to make an ass of yourself is entertaining.

Oh no, you called me a crybaby for the 20th time. Time to go cry in a corner... :eek:bscene-birdiedoublered:

I thank god for Hawks winning the series as it has been the only uplifting moment in my life at the time being. I have prayed to god for the issues Im going through, and at least for another series, I have something to look forward to.
