I am in favor of either guy. Sure Pete is old but he is known for his energy and enthusiasm... which makes him come off as 15+ years younger to the guys he coaches. Moreover, he is a guy that will take no BS and will weed out the system wide obstacles that continue to lead to Bears dysfunction -- same for Vrabel. In short, these 2 guys are culture changers.

With Ben Johnson, I see a good offensive coordinator but I do not see a leader of men - I do not see a culture changer. The Bears are not an X's and O's guy away from fixing this mess. Yes, we need the X's and O's too.... but we have to get a guy who will change the dysfunctional culture this is the Chicago Bears.

We need a guy who will not rollover.... a guy who will pushback against the typical McCaskey way of doing things.

There was an interview with Kevin Byard on CHGO youtube asking about what it was like to lay for Vrabel. I definitely like what he said, worth a watch. I am leaning toward Vrabel

The way the Bears are currently structured, I'd rather they hire a guy like Carroll or Vrabel who can undeniably be the person in charge. There is so much wrong with the Bears from top to bottom, they need stability moreso than an OC/Ben Johnson-type who can tinker with the offense. Until the organization has stability, Caleb Williams will never develop.

Does changing the culture come with getting actual talent?
I think they have a better foundation of talent today than they did 10 years ago at least. at this juncture I think the flaw is undoubtedly coaching. I'm sure there's a number of candidates that want to come here, it's just the structure above are too much of smooth branes to do the right thing and get the right people.

Do you know what changes the culture?

Winning.
Every team faces adversity and the culture is what keeps the team together. The Lions did not win the first year and a half of Campbell but it was the culture that weathered the storm.

So no winning doesnt change the culture. It just makes it easier for a team with bad culture to survive but sooner or later adversity reveals whether you have a strong culture or not.

All this shit about "culture" is honestly dogshit.

You just need a coach to be professional and go about his job the right way. WINNING is what brings "culture".
I don't think so. The NFL is designed so that the bad teams become good. The worst teams draft first, they have first waiver claims, they probably have more cap space. Its almost impossible for the Bears to have been this bad for this long.

For Ryan Poles to be so incompetent to have the Bears at pretty much the same level as the Browns, but instead of having a huge albatross contract like DeShaun Watson's, Poles has a starting QB on a rookie contract....and the Bears are still 4-13? That is almost like the Bears are trying to lose.

Though I agree winning changes everything your team did bring in Campbell to change the lions losing culture...............and he did. He also fired his first OC and then hit a home run with Johnson.

Mediocre GM, bad coaching, terrible lines.

That only goes so far however. it will not be sustainable without winning. Want proof? Look at the Pats.

Vince Lombardi still said it best. Winning isn't everything.........it's the only thing. Culture AND winning.
