My favorite teams
  1. New York Mets
  1. New York Knicks
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. New York Rangers
  1. Syracuse Orange
Does culture score points? I am all for a culture of scoring more points. Thanks.
Maybe you haven't heard but they will hire these guys we call offensive coordinators (OC's for short) that will work with the QB and offense and what they do is work with the offense to score the points. Exact same way the HC that calls the plays does it. Thanks

The way the Bears are currently structured, I'd rather they hire a guy like Carroll or Vrabel who can undeniably be the person in charge. There is so much wrong with the Bears from top to bottom, they need stability moreso than an OC/Ben Johnson-type who can tinker with the offense. Until the organization has stability, Caleb Williams will never develop.

Completely agree, they need structure and discipline. The Bears are a dysfunctional country club

I have heard a few times on sports talk that Johnson is not some kind of push over. Sounds like he is demanding, doesn’t take any crap, and expects perfection. So if true then I see nothing wrong with him as a leader.

The only thing I’m not sure about is his ability to develop a QB. But then again, if you are as good as he is as far as scheming guys open, then QB development will take care of itself.

without tangible results, all the culture in the world will fail.
That doesnt make your premise correct. At the end of the day you have to win at some point but winning isnt the cause of good culture, it is the result of good culture. This is obvious to most but Inget that for someone that followed a loser franchise for so long you may mistake the egg for the chicken.

And Eberflus was a culture guy.
So was John Fox.

When they didn't win, are their "culture BS" when down the shitter.

At this point, I think Pete Carroll is just too old to seriously consider as a HC.

And as has been said multiple times now, in multiple threads, Vrabel is viable but has to have a long term plan at OC. He never had a long term plan for OC in Tennessee and I don't think you can just brush that concern away.

Besides which, assuming the job opens, I think Vrabel will be a strong consideration to the Raiders with the Tom Brady connection. And his brand of coaching also fits the Raiders too.

And there can definitely be more than just Pete Carroll and Mike Vrabel that can change a culture.

My cynical take on the whole culture thing is that yes, winning makes it's own culture. At the very least, you have to have some sort of success to show the players that the new coaching staff knows what they are talking about.

After years of losing at this point, with a couple of really long losing streaks, I think the new coach has to get some early wins otherwise I can see players, fans, and media just going, "Here we go again" and start to tune out the coaches as just being full of shit.

IMO, it's one reason why most of the Belichick coaching tree sucks elsewhere at HC for the most part. They tried to bring that Patriots culture to the other teams, but they did not have the history or the early, quick results to make it stick with a new set of players and a new front office.

I think we’re over stating the whole culture issue. Last year while flus was fucking up late game situations with his poor decision making, the team was still playing very hard for him. I know it got to a boiling point this year with more “holy crap” late game moments, but I don’t see that the whole player culture is such a big problem.

As someone else stated, bringing a competent coach who doesn’t piss the game away and this roster isn’t a mess culture wise.

That being said, we can only wonder what would’ve happened had they just sent tyrique packing after that Hail Mary. We should be glad they didn’t I suppose or we’d be stuck with our previous coach.

Winning has a lot to do with culture. You win games, the players get behind you. It doesn’t matter if you are a meathead like Campbell or calm like Reid. You get the players to believe in you, culture comes naturally.
