Yankees will overpay for him if he is ever available. They'd shift big Tex to 3rd, A-Rod to short and tell Jeter to get fucked if they can land phat Albert.

This.

No, they wouldn't.

Yes they would. They might not do exactly that, but if Albert reaches FA I would put a lot of money on the Yankees getting him. They didn't spend this offseason and would pay a lot of money for Pujols.

Cubs could in no way match the Yankees.

Maybe their saving up for Pujols :smoke:

:elephant:

But seriously, I agree, I don't even think the wildcard comes from the east this season.

You think so? I don't see how the Yankees really regressed that much. Back end of the rotation is kinda weak, but offensively they are pretty much the same.

I think the Red Sox did enough to maybe catch them, but I think the White Sox still fall behind them as do the A's. (Though I think the ChiSox and A's could win their division)

I'm basing that on reports. They have Tex, Posada, Rodriguez, and Jeter. They aren't dumping any of them, which is what they'd have to so to give Pujols a starting job (1B, moving Tex and A-Rod to a new position, or DH).

In today's blog post at ESPN (Insider req'd), Buster Olney says there does not to appear to have been much progress in talks about a long-term contract extension between the Cardinals and Albert Pujols. The Spring Training deadline is about two weeks away.

The bidding for Pujols as a free agent almost certainly would be fierce. The Cubs, Rangers and Angels are among the teams that could pursue Pujols. The Mets and Dodgers also could bid if their ownerships become more stable. The Yankees and Red Sox currently are set long term at first, but they could turn creative in an attempt to land Pujols.

I think most people would say that. People in the baseball organization, coaches, players, fans, etc.

It's kind of pathetic.

They'll act like Cleveland in response to LeBron.

The sad part is Albert wants to stay in St. Louis. If they lose him, you can blame the Cards FO. Unlike the Lebron situation, he really didn't want to go back to Cleveland and didn't work to stay there.
