on a side note, anyone who believes that there will be no talks after his so called deadline is totally naive.

that is too funny of a comment. anybody else would be bad but the cubs would be good. too funny
If it helped win a WS, i wouldn't care if we had a over the hill Pujols for a few years after...
He won't sign during the season, that I believe.
ahh, my bad, thought you were going the homer route with your statement. whooooooops.
yes if you win 1 title, IMO atleast for the cubs it is worth it since it has been so long, but the risk is very high with him
Yeah its a risk but like I said (or meant) by my earlier post is that the Cubs can go for a one championship and every would flip out and completely ignore a bad contract.
than you are naive. this deadline shit is the first step in negotiating. it is a poker game, and it is business.
this is true.
you have to really pray that he doesnt break down.
and pujols to the cubs would be a huge addition in one spot, the team would still need to build around him to be able to win a title. you wouldnt be able to tire patch and think you will win.

Was told tonight by NL exec that Lozano has told multiple teams #stlcards had "no chance to sign him" before free agency.
Looks more and more he will become FA.....i know we have some bad contracts but i would take a chance on giving him 10 year contract. This guy is doing things that NO other MLB has ever done. Can you imagine what he would do at wrigley?
The more and more I think about it, the more and more I don't want Pujols on this team. While I think he is the greatest player of all-time, the last 3 years of this deal would be fucking awful.
I'm not convinced anyone will give him ten years.
I know it would cost a shitload, but I'm wondering how much it would take to get him here for 5 years.
I also think Pujols could still be productive at 42. Obviously he wont be $30mm good by today's value but still productive. Another thing, wouldn't you expect salaries to keep getting higher to the point where maybe $30MM per year isn't completely absurd by the end of the deal? Maybe?
