umm.

Ranks 2 in OPS behind Votto at 1.06 vs .891 of Fielder
Ranks 2 in OBP behind Votto at .451 vs .384 of fielder

let alone BA, hrs.

its not a debate. konerko deserves it over Fielder.

Well, it clearly is a debate, b/c after the first batch of updated #s, Prince has almost twice as many votes as Paulie.

Wow. Cool. He's played more games at 1B. That has nothing to do with his all-star ability.

Konerko is the better fielder anyway. And he has better stats in everything else except for RBIs.

So you're basically saying that Konerko shouldn't be the starter because he's old and the Sox are looking out for him by not playing him every game in the field. That's the only reason he isn't there every game. So to say that he shouldn't be the starting 1B just because he doesn't play every single game there is a little ridiculous.

This is Konerko's best season ever. He deserves to be a starter. Because before now he's always been snubbed out of being there in the first place. Last two years he's been good and in 2010 he barely made it because someone got injured. In 2011 it took the final vote. This year he should be in without having to worry.

Well, it does lead to the debate.

And again, no need to be your typical prick-hole self. I never said Prince SHOULD get in over Paulie. Paulie's my favorite south sider. I'm just saying, I can see an argument made for Fielder..the biggest one being that he's a full-time 1b.

Justin Morneau is a full-time 1B. Let's get him into the all star game guys!!

What year was he snubbed as being the starter? Most years Konerko was not the best first baseman in the AL. This year he clearly is.

:obama:

1. I'm not Dews jr because that would be fucking awful.
2. By saying that Prince has an argument you're saying that a good argument for being on the all-star team is being a full-time player at that position. And therefore saying that the reason that Konerko could be beat by Fielder is that he's too old.

Not snubbed to be the starter. Snubbed to be there in general. He should have at least gotten voted in those years or selected by the coaches.

Not until this year has he even had an argument. That's also because until this year the big name guys have actually been hitting.

He has been an all-star 5 times according to Baseball-Reference

I think Konerko and LaHair should both get in the ASG this year, but neither as starters. LaHair leads all MLB 1b in Home Runs, and Konerko leads all MLB 1b in BA.

PK not as a starter? Take a look at this graphic.

Paulie is destroying the competition in more than average, and this graphic is already old. PK's OPS is up to 1069.

I'm not sure what else a player needs to do to be a starter on the all star team other than playing for the Yankees or having a name everyone knows.

He made it the last two years that I'm talking about specifically.

But like I already said, in 2010 he didn't get voted in, didn't get selected, was on the final vote ballet, and then didn't win that and only made it in because of an injury.

In 2011, he didn't get voted in or selected and won the final vote.

When in reality both years he should have at least been selected by the coaches or whoever selects them.

So no, Paulie isn't statistically better in just about every way.

Yes he is. Look at the difference between PK and Fielder in OPS. it's night and day. So is RAR and PX.

I'm not saying Fielder shouldn't be on the team. He should be. But, at least for this season, PK is better.

But Teixeira leads Paulie in votes, too. What does that say about the people voting for this ridiculous game?

How many 1B/DHs was the AL suppose to carry last year? Konerko was at best the 3rd best 1B in the league last year. I'll look up my posts about this last year when I had the exact stats, but that wasn't a snub last year.
