I cant believe some of these posts. cough cough x factor.

So this is debatable because Fielder has more votes?

There is no debate. Konerko is having a better year than Fielder. To use games where he has sat out and DHd is crazy talk. We have the luxury of using Dunn,Lillibridge, and Flowers at 1b to give him the time needed to rest which is good for the team during a long season.

How many 1B/DHs was the AL suppose to carry last year? Konerko was at best the 3rd best 1B in the league last year. I'll look up my posts about this last year when I had the exact stats, but that wasn't a snub last year.

There was no DH last year. Konerko was the 3rd best which is how many were supposed to be picked I think. And then made it final vote.

He still had the numbers to get there.

I'm not saying Fielder shouldn't be on the team. He should be. But, at least for this season, PK is better.

I've never said otherwise. Just ran into a small group that heard "derp u dont agree wiff me so immma ignore whatchoo say! derp1!"

That's part of why there is debate, yes. It's not the sole reason for debate. Just a small part.

1. I'm not Dews jr because that would be fucking awful.
2. By saying that Prince has an argument you're saying that a good argument for being on the all-star team is being a full-time player at that position. And therefore saying that the reason that Konerko could be beat by Fielder is that he's too old.

:obama::obama::obama:

Yeah, I'm crazy for thinking some people might want the starting 1b in an all-star game to start 2/3 of the games at that position.

If we had Fielder and the tigers had konerko and fielder was leading the all star vote while on the sox you would be going crazy. that is fact.

More like. You said "Here this is a pointless statistic that proves that this guy who isn't have a great season this year should be the starter"

Fielder is a good 1B and I'm not arguing that. And like SaberSox said, Konerko is better this year. That was my point.

Oh I agree. Cabrera was much better last year and Teixeira. But Konerko should've been on the team.

I like Paulie.

I have no problem w/ Paulie being the starting 1b.

Read better.

First off, Fielder is having a great season.

Secondly, I have never said that his season is better than Paulie's, nor have I said Fielder should be the starter on the game that you and all your sox brethren deem so pointless you get in arguments w/ someone who agrees w/ you over said game. I merely said I see how an argument could be made, and made it. I didn't mean to push so many jumpers off the ledge. My mistake.

I get that you're playing devils advocate. But face the facts that this year Konerko is actually better statistically than the other first basemen in the league.

The fact that Fielder has a couple more RBIs and plays more at first doesn't change that.

That's because the game is pointless. And that's how All-Star games should be. But the MLB seems to think otherwise and yet they use voting that makes it seem like it's not pointless.

That would have meant the AL was carrying 4 1B with Gonzalez, Cabrera, Texieria, and Konerko. It wasn't a clear cut snub like the fan vote is this year.
