The wife and I went to Two Brothers this weekend. Had a few craft brews and some food. Start sharing your likes/dislikes.

Picked up a 6 pack of this. Very tasty.

Number one on my list for a while now.

Big fan of Two Brothers. They had a chocolate and beer tasting out here in Champaign with Two Brothers beers along with chocolates from a local bakery.

It was fantastic.

is it hoppy? I'm not a big fan of hops.

Stouts and dark lagers are my favorites.

I'd say it's about half/half.

I've been on a hop kick as of late, and am taking suggestions.

Bell's Hopslam may be one of the best I've tasted. Got a bottle of Arrogant Bastard chilling in the fridge.
I've been on a hop kick as of late, and am taking suggestions.
If you can find it out here (and I haven't looked yet), there's an AZ brewery called SanTan and they make a beer called "Hop Shock I.P.A." - it is one of the hoppiest beers I've ever tasted and a new favorite. It's like a beautiful, hoppy, 7% kick to the teeth.

Now I want one. Time for a trip to Binny's.

Otherwise I'm a big Guinness fan and probably drink this the most. This summer I've come to realize that Murphy's Irish Stout doesnt' really do it for me either. I've tried a lot of Irish Stouts and none seem to come close to Guinness.

Don't care for too many of the average American Beers (as I get older I can't stand Miller Light or But Light more and more), but I'm always on the look out for a good micro-brew.

Ohio company called Great Lakes Brewery - I like most of theirs that I've tried, in particular their Edmund Fitzgerald porter.

Dogfish Head (already mentioned) is really good, especially if you like IPA's/hoppy beers.

Can't go wrong with Goose Island either. Their 312 is always a good fall-back for me if nothing else looks good.

I know a lot of folks who swear by Lenie's Berry and Honey Weisses(sp?) but I think their best beer is the "Red" which may have been rebranded as "Amber"

being from kalamazoo pretty much means you have to love anything from bell's. oberon is like tap water, found everywhere, over here.

that said, winter white ale and the amber are my favorites. hard to find (except for me, haha) "hell hath no fury ale" is serious. available only in october for the most part.

i'm picturing a visit to the beer garden tonight now, mmmm.

Oberon is not very good.

I've tried many of their flavors. Just finished off a 6'er of the sparkling ale-- which was average at best. They made an urban wheat 2 years ago, and Kuma's in Chicago was lucky enough to snag some.

I also like the cherry stout, winter ale, amber-- and am about to try their oktoberfest.

My sister lives up in Kzoo, and her fiancee always brings some in with him.

yeah i'm probably the only person in kzoo who isn't in love with (or at least owns up to not liking it) oberon. its like a city wide event downtown when it hits in the springtime.

i'm guessing your sister attends(/attended) WMU? can't think of any other reason a person would choose to live here.

I'll have to try it.

The cherry wheat and blackberry wit are tasty summer brews.

My favourite is Double Diamond Ale from the U.K., but can't get it anywhere now...

Next to that:

Guinness, Boddingtons, Kilkenny, Cafferey's...

In general, I like dark ales from England or Scotland.

Belgian beers can be a real treat - they're almost like works of art. Very tasty and distinctive.

Top three:

Ayinger Brau-Weisse

Young's Double Chocolate Stout

Breckenridge Vanilla Porter

Otherwise, Boddingtons Pub Ale is pretty good too. Buffalo Gold is great for anyone who likes golden/blonde ales. Arrogant Bastard Ale is alright, but a bit too bitter for my tastes, if it was toned down a bit I would absolutely love it.

Killians Red is a pretty good Amber Lager IMO, if I'm in the mood for it.

I enjoy most hefeweizen's as well -- Pyramid Haywire, Hacker-Pshorr, Weihenstephaner. Newcastle Brown Ale is also a good choice at most bars, along with another Brown Ale, Big Sky Moose Drool.

Mostly, I'm a huge fan of Porters and Stouts. Guinness is good but there are many other better choices out there.

Never tried any IPA's, but only because I've only heard of how awful they are.

McEwans is what I used to steal out of the fridge, well that and Tennants, when we lived there. ALthough I think I only took the Tennants becasue of the bare boobs on the can.
