They won't get back nearly enough for Castro as they should. Why are we even talking about this, it's not gonna happen and shouldn't. I'll be pissed and I'll find a way to ***** at the Cubs FO.

You are right, and they shouldn't trade him unless they get something like Dustin Ackley and Michael Pineda or something.

Regardless nobody should be untouchable/untradeable. If someone is willing to pay through the nose for someone you should make the deal no matter who it is.

Castro is not the most valuable (value as in monetary value compared to team control years left not irreplaceable player) in the majors. No the Cubs shouldn't be offering him up in deals, but if someone comes in and just gives us the moon for him we should take it.

Yeah, I suppose..what you mean that no one should be untradeable. Let a team make an offer and se how good or bad the offer is. Any player in the majors should not be untradeable...even the top players.

Bingo. I mean every player has a price that it should be moved for.

Byrd is coming back soon, probably on Sunday or Monday. If you were to send a guy down, do you send down Campana or Montanez? I figure neither guy would play much, but you do want another guy who can play all three OF positions, and all things being equal, you let the speedy guy play so he can be a pinch-runner. So I'd send down Montanez and keep Campana only as a pinch-runner and late-game replacement.

I think you summed up the situation nicely Rice Cube. If Campana had the potential to be an everyday player than there would be an argument that he ought to go down to get regular playing time. But he is 25 and he is what he is. A guy that has zero power, amazing wheels, doesn't make enough contact or draw enough walks to make that skillset work as an everyday major leaguer.

I have to say Montanez. Campy is what the Cubs need, a good pinch runner off the bench.

Buster Olney....

*The Cubs are telling teams that Sean Marshall is going no where and will be put in no such trade.

*The Cubs will eventually convey interest in Kerry Wood and let him decided if he wants to go and where.

Both make a lot of sense to me. I don't think Kerry is going anywhere unless he wants to, and it seems unlikely that he is going to. It is nice to see a guy that is this devoted to the team. I just wish he could fix the starting pitching problem we have, but that ship sailed many years ago.*

I am wondering if the Cubs are considering Marshall as a closer and quietly seeing what they can get Marmol. Marshall doesn't have the typical closer stuff, but he has been real effective for several years now as a reliever. Either way the bullpen is one of the few bright spots on this team even if Marmol drives you crazy sometimes.

*Thanks again Dusty for pitching Wood and Prior into the ground in 2003.**

**Yes I realize that it was more than Dusty that eventually made Wood a reliever, but still him averaging the most pitchers per start in one of the only years he was healthy didn't help matters.

Peter Gammons....

*Even tho the Cubs don't have to trade Marmol, they should look into it. The best trade partners are the Rangers and the Yankees. The Cubs could get top 3 prospects for Marmol.

*The Braves need a righty OF bat and thought of Byrd. Maybe an option.

*No teams have interest in either Zambrano or Soriano.

I wouldn't mind moving Byrd in the right deal. I've thought that the team would be best to open up two OF spots to let Colvin sink or swim in the big leagues, and get Brett Jackson a cup of coffee in September. Not terribly surprising that no one is calling for either with Z on the DL.

The Tom Gorzelanny trade has been brought up and people think it was a hugh mistake (me being one). Def with all the injuries to the pitching staff. Here's the players the Cubs acquried and what their doin'.

OF Michael Burgess (Daytona High A)-Doing absolutely shit.
RHP A.J. Morris (Daytona High A)-No stats for '11, injured?
LHP Graham Hicks (Peoria Chiefs)-Not impressive stats but still only 21. However, I still don't think of anything out of him.

In my own opinion, I think the Cubs trade Gorzo for nothing. Just to get rid of him.

The Cubs sign RHP to a minor league deal. He'll report to Triple A.

We can't use this thread because the franchise hasn't done shit in the last 103 years. Or over the trade deadline for that matter.
