The good thing is for Portis is that the top 3 Bulls bigs in Gasol, Noah, and Taj are all in their 30s. So they will probably be rested at times in the season which will help Portis get more PT.

Anyone heard the guy talk? He sounds like a Special person that just crawled out of the Bayou.

I just appreciate that he acknowledges that he has crazy eyes. He always looks like he is tweaking out of his mind.

So because portis hasn't played 82 games he must be worse than a guy with glass knees who is a liability on defense? Why? Because Noah was good 2 years ago before his surgery? I realize it's easy to get sentimental about players you like, especially since they used to be very good but anyone who watched jo in the playoffs should know he's just about done. 25 mpg tops for him with average defense and rebounding.

You do not know that. That kind of surgery typically takes two full years to recover from and this is now two years. Two years ago he was the Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-Star. Cut the guy some slack. Noone on the team has more heart than Noah, as much maybe as in Taj and Butler, but not more.

Taj will be a nice trading piece if Portis develops right.

Who knows if it would be more worth it to the Bulls to trade Noah. Gibson is their only big that can give them good offense and consistently very good defense. If you trade only Noah, Taj can still fill the back-up C role pretty nicely. Gasol can be the starting C. Mirotic and Portis would be your stretch 4's.

I do cut him slack. I love Noah...but I can't ignore what I see. There were rumors his knee was bone on bone. He's a big that relies on hustle and athleticism. He looks to be moving slightly better than last year in the playoffs, but as the season goes on and he logs more minutes, I would wager that he gradually looks less and less effective. He gives us practically nothing on offense and I think at this point he's merely a solid/slightly above average defender and rebounder. Heart is great, but you have to produce on the court to really make an impact. I hope I'm wrong and he bounced bAck and looks good in the playoffs I'd just be surprised.

We are stuck with Noah. Nobody is trading for a big with bad knees, and one that has such a limited offensive game. Taj has more return value.

Even if the Bulls get relatively close to nothing for Noah except saving cap/salary, the Bulls stand to gain by trading him.

And one thing you seem to be forgetting is that Noah is an expiring contract. And teams flock to trade for expiring contracts. Even the likes of Kendrick Perkins. And to top that off, Noah is actually still a serviceable player.

And what do the Bulls stand to gain by trading Taj? If they cannot package him for a player we KNOW will be better overall than McDermott, Snell, or Dunleavy then what's the point of doing it at all?

It is so nice having a draft pick look like he's going to be something right from the get go. Leaves our Bulls with options, trade options, if someone gets hurt options. Pretty nice how this is appearing to turn out. Color me excited.

I would try to trade Noah. Niko, taj, and portis are all on bargain deals and have quality basketball ahead of them. Pau is on a bargain deal as well and prob could play at least another 2-3 years. Noah is an expiring that we can't/shouldn't re-sign. I'm not sure what we could get for him, but an expiring deal of that much money holds value. It would also open up mins for bobby

You could try to trade Noah, but I doubt you'd get anything in return. Taj is a far more viable trading piece.

More valuable, yes. But still a productive player and with the cap going on, his deal is a bargain. Noah pretty much doesn't have a future here, IMO. If we can't get a clear upgrade at PG or on the wing, I would keep Taj. Are we going to get a haul for Jo? No. We won't get much....but whatever we get should be better than what he gives us in the future....which is pretty much nothing.

I suppose. He is an expiring though so that should hold some value. The other thing with Taj is that you basically have a perfect replacement for him in Portis as he can do all the same things. Give or take I guess. You can argue that we won't even resign Jo after this year depending on how he plays.
