@MDGonzales: RV says there are contingency plans for Tuesday besides Axelrod if Peavy isn't with Sox. Charlotte off tuesday, but Rienzo a possibility

@Buster_ESPN: Jesse Crain has been dealt to Tampa Bay, according to a source.

@Ken_Rosenthal: #Rays get Crain from #WhiteSox. Complicated deal, awaiting details. First reported, @Buster_ESPN.

@JonHeymanCBS: #chisox get PTBNLs or $ for crain

@Ken_Rosenthal: #Rays aiming only for high-impact players. No doubt they checked Crain’s MRIs and medical records thoroughly and believe he will help.

@Buster_ESPN: The Rays send 'future considerations' for Crain. Again, probably based on how much he pitches, after he comes back off DL

Posturing

@Buster_ESPN: The White Sox are telling other teams they're going to keep Peavy and build around him.

@Buster_ESPN: The White Sox may well be trying to apply more leverage in the Peavy talks by saying they're holding him, before making a move... We'll see.

@Buster_ESPN: The Crain agreement between CWS/TB had to be re-done for Commissioner's office earlier today given the complicated nature of the deal.

@whitesox: #WhiteSox have traded RH reliever @JesseCrain & cash considerations to the #Rays for players to be named later or cash considerations.

@Ken_Rosenthal: #Athletics off Peavy, moving onto other pursuits - bullpen, middle IFer. Will dangle some of players they would have traded for Peavy.

@Ken_Rosenthal: So, if #WhiteSox are posturing with Peavy, they could be losing chance to make certain deals. Remains to be seen whether they will hold him.

Arizona has been shopping Ian Kennedy and Jason Kubel, which wouldn't free enough $ to get Kevin Towers' fave Jake Peavy

Andre Rienzo - S - White Sox
Andre Rienzo will start for the White Sox on Tuesday in Cleveland if Jake Peavy is traded.
A participant in this year's Futures Game, Rienzo holds a 4.06 ERA with 113 strikeouts over 113 innings at Triple-A Charlotte this season. He's been fantastic since the beginning of June, posting a 1.78 mark while notching 65 strikeouts over 60 2/3 frames. He's worth a speculative pick-up in AL-only leagues.

Hopefully Crain gets healthy quickly and the Sox get some good talent from that trade.

Don't see Peavy or Rios being traded. The whole "we're keeping him" to get the teams to maybe offer more is dumb and is not going to work.

Not sure about that ERA, but lots of Ks. Wow.

He threw a no hitter his last time out. Although it was 7 IP because they played a double header. Still nonetheless a no hitter with 11 Ks. Atleast he has a high K rate.

Oh definitely. His K rate is fantastic. I'm just not impressed with a 4 ERA in AAA if he's going to be pitching major league. WHIP isn't great either, but not bad. HR/9 is good.

If the Sox can get a good trade for Peavy I have no problem with him playing. Hopefully he does well. I love love love the White Sox pitching coaches all the way up through the system.

I understand. But hey lets see what he's got maybe he'll be decent since he's a strikeout pitcher.

I used to listen to the baseball prospectus podcast and I'm trying to remember if they said lots of Ks means the pitcher is pretty good or if it's better to look at other stuff. Wish I could remember.

I heard something the other day that a low K count in the minors isn't necessarily a good thing.

rienzo is with the team

It's just in case. But if there wasn't anything close I wouldn't imagine he'd be there and with the team so lousy they'd just use Axelrod. Which thank god I'm glad he isn't pitching.

I don't think Rienzo being with the team necessarily means that Peavy will be trade. More of a just in case. Hope Peavy doesn't have to pitch tomorrow because he's traded!

I'd rest Peavy down the stretch for next year if kept. Let some other guys start like Rienzo

I'm hoping I wake up tomorrow and Peavy's traded to Cards along with Ramirez for Wacha, Martinez, and Wong. Hope we eat a little money in order to get the best prospects. I am a little worried it won't get done
