Scenarios for the hawks making the playoffs.

1. Be masters of your own destiny and beat detwat twice. That guarantees us a spot.

2. if we split:

anaheim loses out or dallas loses one of their remaining 3 games (counting avs tonight, but its looking like a stars win).

3. If we lose out:

Dallas must go 1-2 counting tonight.

Im sure the ducks will win one of their series with the kings, and unfortunately think the stars can win out given who they are playing.

So Im just hoping the hawks can sweep detroit.

I thought we only needed one win out of the two against Detroit in regulation or a single Stars loss to clinch?

Am I not seeing the tie breaker right?

**** I am sooo confused all the time!!!!

Never mind I figured it out....yikes its really scary knowing Dallas's 2 remaining games are against bottom dwellers.

And the ducks against the banged up Kings.

I dont like the new tie breaker rule AT ALL right now.

Excellent article about the playoff scenarios with Dallas. The Ducks are easy they have 41 ROW so we have to have more points the Stars are all confusing. But if they win out they have 97 and we would have to 2 points or 3 points. If the stars win all their games in ot or earlier we would both finish with 97 pts and 38 ROW and they win the season series and get in. But if they win one of the last two in SO we only need 2 pts.

Those Kings just beat the Coyotes in Phoenix. Any team can win any night. Colorado and Minny will be at home. Minny's last game at home until next year. I'm pretty sure they won't want to leave the season on a losing note.

Dallas just beat the Avs for the first time this year. Avs will be at home a mile high...

Detroit will be without Zetterburg.

Anything can happen....

Regardless of what the Stars do tonight, if the Ducks lose to LA and the Hawks win tonight, the Hawks pass the Ducks.

If the Sharks beat the Yotes in reg or the BJs beat the Preds tonight in reg and the Hawks win tonight in reg or OT, we'll pass either one based on reg/OT wins.

Not sure about the tie breaker if the Hawks win tonight in a SO, but the Hawks split the season series with the Preds 3-3 AND two of the Preds wins came in the SO. Hawks also split the season series with the Yotes 2-2 and each team had a SO win.

Is goal differential the next tiebreaker after head-to-head?

If it is, Hawks are +32, Preds are +24 and Yotes +6.

My analysis, everything is pretty much in flux right now.

Yeah its regulation wins not wins. if it were just wins, wed be fine with a split with detroit if dallas won out.

I didnt add the OT scenarios where we could get in, just because thats really nitpicking.

As many have thought.

It all comes down to the last games.

Everyone has clinched accept us or Dallas.

Pretty simple now. Win (or a point with a Stars loss) we are in. Dallas wins in regulation or OT and we lose we are out. Dallas loses and we are in.

And I have to go through all of this at 9:30 am on a Sunday? Damn it!!!

Seeding will be interesting also as no positions are secure accept the Canucks at #1.

If I am not wrong if we win, Blues beat Nashville, and the Sharks beat the Yotes we could place as high as 5th.

BUT JUST FUCKING WIN ON SUNDAY!!

Actually all we need is a point no matter what. If we get one point we are 98 the best Dallas can do is 97. We only need one lousy point.

I hate math. There is a reason I got a history degree. If either the Ducks or Kings win in regulation on Saturday the Hawks will be in a spot where if they win they are in 7th. If they lose in OT they are in 8th and if they lose they could be in 9th. Crazy.

Unfortunately after all of last night's results it is either the 'Hawks or Dallas that will get in. 'Hawks, just get a point, or two, and then prepare for the 'Nucks. And yes I am aware that the 'Hawks could still slide into the 7th spot with a win and LA or Anahiem loss or LA get's one point, but I think they will end in the 8th seed.

One thing that could be a huge factor in the game tomorrow is the ice. There is a concert at the UC tonight (I'll be there), and with the early start tomorrow the ice will be soft. Let's hope that works in the 'Hawks favor.

Not to mention it's supposed to be 80 degrees tomorrow. Now depending on how warm it stays tonight.

A lot riding on tomorrows game. More play, or Golf.

Oh yea I forgot about the freaky warm temps there will be tonight. Let's just hope that "snow" does not prevent the 'Hawks playoff chances.

I've run out of porn (and am waiting for more to be made), so I've decided to spend a few minutes on possible playoff scenarios.

First, the Hawks will finish 8th if they get 0 points tomorrow, god forbid, and the Stars lose or win in the SO.

The Hawks will finish 7th or 8th If they get 1 point. (7th, if the Kings beat the Ducks in reg, OT or a SO or if the Ducks beat Kings in reg (based on reg/OT wins Hawks 38 to Kings 36)).

The Hawks will finish at least 7th with a win tomorrow, but depending on how other teams do tonight can end up anywhere from 5th to 7th.

The Hawks will finish 7th, if they win tomorrow,(the loser of the Ducks/Kings, regardless of a reg, OT or SO loss, will finish 8th).

The Hawks will finish 6th, if they win and the Preds win or lose in OT/SO but the Yotes lose in reg.

Like wise, the Hawks will finish 6th if they win and the Yotes win or lose in OT/SO but the Preds lose in reg.

The Hawks will finish 5th, If they win in reg or OT and both the Yotes and Preds lose in regulation (the Hawks pass em because all 3 teams will have 99 points, but the Hawks will have 39 reg & OT wins, the Yotes & Preds 38).

Even if the Hawks win in a SO, if the Yotes & Preds lose in reg, because the Hawks split the season series with the Preds 3-3 AND two of the Preds wins came in the SO the Hawks have 8 points, Preds 6, so the Hawks would pass em based on head-to-head points. Hawks also split the season series with the Yotes 2-2 and each team had a SO win but in the next tie breaker, goal differential, Hawks are +34, Yotes +7, so the Hawks pass them.

Under the above scenario (Hawks win, Preds & Yotes lose in reg), if LA beats the Ducks, they'll have 100 points and the Hawks would end up 5th with 99 and play the Kings in the 1st round.

On the other hand, using the same scenario (Hawks win, Preds & Yotes lose in reg), if the Ducks win in reg, OT or a SO, they'd end up 4th - because they'd have more reg/OT wins than the Hawks - and we'd play them in the first round (LA would only have 36 reg/OT wins to our 38 or 39).

It's possible that 5 teams (the 4th to 8th seeds) could end up with 99 points tomorrow under the following scenario. The Hawks win, the Ducks beat LA in OT or a SO and both the Preds & Yotes lose in Reg.

The seeds would be:

4th Ducks

5th Hawks

6th Preds

7th Yotes

8th Kings

Yup, I am aware they could be anywhere from 5th to 9th after tomorrow....somehow I just "feel" it is going to be 8th. It is somewhat of a dream matchup for the NHL. Now, I would prefer something like 5th or 6th.

Just crazy how most of the West seeds are still up in the air.
