If the Hawks win their last game, they will most likely face the Ducks and I don't like their chances against them, same with the Sharks if they get a point. Somehow I feel the Hawks have a better chance against the Nucks from the 8th spot.

REALLY REALLY don't want to face the Ducks. Honestly, I'd love for the Ducks to face the Wings in R1 and the Hawks face the Nucks.

No matter what we do, if the Stars win in a SO we get in, too.

Wait, so the Hawks can lose and if the Stars win in ot/so then everything is gravy? I've just never heard that scenario yet.

I hope you're going to the game since you're undefeated vs detroit.

just the shoot out. Dallas can win in OT with a Hawks loss and place 8th but they can not advance with a win in a shoot out.

we arent going to have to worry about what dallas does or doesn't do tomorrow. Hawks are going to get the points they need against detroit. and i do have a gut feeling that we will be in an ot game tomorrow. the single point will be heaven

So with a reg/OT win the Hawks place 5th and face the Ducks

With a SO win the Hawks also place 5th and face the Ducks

With a OT/SO loss the Hawks place 7th and face the Sharks

With a reg loss and Stars loss they will place 8th and face the Nucks.

they aren't counting games won in the shoot out this year in the tie breaker if it gets to that. overtime wins they are..shoot out wins they are not.

which i think is actually fair.

Only a SO, if the Stars win in reg or OT, and we lose stars are in because we'll be tied in reg/OT wins and they'll win the next tiebreaker, head-to-head series this season. Unfortunately, I live in Toledo, and only saw the Hawks and Wings in Detroit, Don,t have a ticket to the game, less somebody wants to gift me one, and I'll be on the road ASAP.

I somehow missed that memo/completely misinterpreted that memo.

Bottom line: the shootout blows. You win or you don't. I really hope this is the last year for it.

Well ****. If we win, we get the Ducks in the first round... If we lose in OT/SO, we get Detroit? Anyone else hoping we just get a point tomorrow?
<

I do not want to face the Ducks. Period. I think they are the dark horse coming out of the West.

I don't think think the Ducks have the defense depth for the playoffs and nothing after their top 2 lines. I also dont think their goalkeeping is overly strong to be honest. Seen the Ducks before they were called the Canucks with the Bertuzzi/Morison/Naslund line.

Depth wins you playoff series and I dont think the Ducks have it.

Thats just me though. They are damn good but I think the Sharks/Canucks and Detroit have better depth.

But **** me when i start talking about who we will be playing in the first round i feel like i am jinxing something. JUST WIN TOMORROW!!!

Depends on how their goaltending performs.

Is Emery hurt, can Ellis go a whole series, how's Hilliers physically (and mentally)?

I agree with your analysis. Also, a win helps your fantasy league team, as you mentioned in the GDT thread. Hence, a must win!

I'm not worried about their goaltending. I'm worried about their size and physicality up front. The Ducks are just a team the Hawks don't match up well against. They are a big, physical team, that can wear down pretty much anyone. Give me Detroit or Vancouver any day.
