The GODFATHER Trilogy

So I watched the first 2 Godfather movies and I thought they were amazing. Very well done. I liked how the 2nd one explained how the Godfather came to power. I just downloaded the third one and I heard it is really bad compared to the first two (but what do you expect after a 15 year break and Pacino being a lot older), but is anyone else fans of these films?

I have probably seen the Godfather 50 times in my life. I believe it's the greatest movie ever made. The more you watch it you see things you never saw before and you understand the relationship of all the characters.

There is actually a vesion that splices GF 1 and 2 together in sequence.

GF 3 was just a money grab and you can find video snippets of the cast members admitting that

From my understanding, the Godfather III was supposed to be a completely different movie where Tom hagan would be center of the movie. But, there was a money issue because Duvall wanted Pacino money and they wouldnt give it to him. Also, Coppola admitted he was flat broke and thats why Godfather III was made

do you mean like it starts off when Vito was a kid and makes it all chronologically in order from there? if so that's pretty cool.

I've seen GF 1 and 2 too many times to count. I like 2 a little more just because of the young Don Vito Corleone's exploits when he was starting out.

The whole "GF III sucks" thing is way, way, way overblown. It may have been poor in relation to the 1st and 2nd, but the 3rd still blows away most movies that are made today.

The 3rd is still a good movie. But nowhere near the first two.

yee, just finished the 3rd. I got confused with all the murders at the end but overall wasn't bad. The whole vatican setting bored the hell out of me though.

1 & 2 spliced together in chronological order is called The Godfather Saga. It's great but not as good as watching 1 then 2.

If 3 was a standalone movie it would be 10/10. After 1 & 2 the third one is so fucking weak. Unwatchable. The bar was set so high.

Negative. They're insufferably long-winded and boring as all ****. I think most people like them simply because it's been suggested to them enough -- either directly or indirectly -- that they've conditioned themselves into believing as much. In this very real sense, the films quite literally "insist upon [themselves]," as Seth MacFarlane once opined. Now, I don't necessarily care for Mr. MacFarlane's particular brand of humor (Family Guy, anyway), but I've found the man himself to be quite insightful, and in this instance -- spot on. I feel this point is evidenced by Mr. Coppola's own admission of having released the third film merely for its financial windfall.

Just my opinion, obviously. Your mileage may vary. That being said, the above soliloquy did, in fact, just happen and you will each need to find a way of coming to terms with it, whatever those means may be.

I watched the first one for the first time today. Decent story that could but IMO the movie could have been alot shorter and still got the point across. Wasn't terrible, wasn't great. I was expecting alot more from it.

Is it worth watching the second one?

Please don't watch Part 2. This kind of a movie isnt made for someone like you.

This is not a circa 2014 formula movie running 90 minutes. There is an important story to be told and it take a certain amount of time to tell it. What parts should have been taken out?

Please don't watch Part 2 and spare yourself the agony of watching it and the agony of us listening to your critique
