Torres has left his meeting with Shanahan as of a couple of hours ago. Should be interesting to hear what the results are.

I'm guessing 15-20 games.

Based on Torres being an incredibly easy target and Hossa being quite hurt.

Yea, I really have no idea what direction they go.

My guess is...

Playoffs + 10 games.

I think they give him the Matt Cooke treatment here. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they just give him 5 games overall.

I was telling someone the other day that they should make it so a player of equal level to the injured player plus the offender should be suspended. Ottawa's owner proposed a similar thing today with A, B, and C classes.

Very surprised that the NHL didn't announce a decision today. Friday is usually the best day to announce "bad" or "negative" news and the NHL doesn't need the media taking off with more of suspension headlines.

Yeah, Saturday is a nice day to bury some news.

If Torres gets 15-20 games when Duncan Keith got 5, that's ridiculous.

Torres' hit was late, off his feet and reckless. And Hossa was injured as a result off it. Hossa was injured because Torres wanted to hit him hard.

Keith's hit was not nearly as violent, but it was deliberate, targeted and pre-meditated. Sedin was injured because Keith wanted to injure him.

Please can we drop the "Canucks cry about the refs", "Fans riot when they lose" and "Sedin Sisters" comments (although I laughed at the picture posted here.) Not because Quenville cried over the Torres hit way more than Vig did over the Keith elbow. Not because it was only drunk bastards who rioted. Not because most NHL players would happily skate on a line with the Sedins because they know their point production would go up (including Bolland.) Quit with those comments because they are boring. They lack imagination. Someone said "Keep RockyRider on the site so we can jack him." Well, no one's jacked me yet because they haven't hit me with a comment that isn't old already. Put your thinking caps on, Hawks fans!

Oh, and I have seen a comment or two here about Canucks goaltending. We're down 3-1 also, but none of our losses can be pinned on goaltending. But I think it would be fair to say that the Blackhawks have "won" four games in this series, but Crawford has lost three himself personally.

You're forgetting the most important part. Raffi Torres has a ridiculous history of these kinds of hits. Keith was a FIRST-TIME offender.

I won't sit here and defend anything about Keith's hit, but you can't ignore Keith's history (none) and Torres' history (too many hits to list).

Also LOL at you talking about goaltending not being a Canucks issue when your fucking goalie was benched. You're so far from reality it's hysterical.

Yeah well if you subtract off the no call and non-suspension for Sedin's hit- I think it comes out even... and in a perfect world Keith actually grows a brain, drops the gloves, and takes care of business, without resorting to a really ugly retaliation.

But then again, I'm talking from the perspective of a forward... the other thing this points to is that as a league you have to discipline your enforcement officers (on ice officials) for blowing something as ergregious as Shanahan outlined - you just do - it's like misplacing the decimal points a couple of places when ringing up a Cadilac... it is no minor mistake on their part.
