I will say this McPimp is strong at marketing, there is no denying he can market well. But and this can be argued til the sun comes up, is the UC packed because of him or because the hawks are the best team in Chicago? I thinking it is because the hawks are no longer horrible and no longer have a front office that the fans hated. I don't like the firing of Savard (I'll expand on that in a minute), absolutely hate that DT was let go, and if there is any truth to his "splash" signings then I am completely against him meddling in hockey ops.
The savvy thing. I want to say this right way Q is a better coach than Savvy but my problem lies with Savvy was improving the team. The year he got the job they sucked, next year he was 3 points out of the playoffs, that's progression, I just feel you don't fire a guy for progress. Now we can debate all day if Savvy would have got them as far as Q and really I don't think he would have. I think last year Savvy would have got us into maybe the 2nd round and sent home, maybe even only going 7 games in the first before we went golfing.
As Stan Bowman (since he's been brought up a few times) I don't care for him as a GM, I don't have a whole lot of logical reasons but i just feel he is his old man's puppet (but hell his old man knows more about hockey than probably anyone else on the planet).
As a coach, there is no doubt that Scotty was a great one. He has the rings to prove it. But, the GM who made it possible for those rings was Sam Pollack. As a GM, look at his record. Scotty sucked balls. (Ok, was marginal at best.)
