A little late to the party here, but I have no problem with this thread as long as everyone keeps it a civilized discussion. No garbage please, lets just keep this as a very good debate.

Is anyone else worried at how fast this team can now fall apart? A few bad moves and they may never see the cup finals again for a while. Without DT and Dudley and whoever else they fired you have McD calling all the shots. A guy who has no hockey background or expereience and has already proved he only worries about the splash. Then you have Stan who doesn't have the balls to tell McD he is wrong, and doesn't have the knowledge and experience to actually know when he's wrong. You have Jay Blunk, yes I said it, Jay Blunk all up in the butt that is everything McD, his name is mentioned at every turn by McD as someone who has been instrumental in helping him turn around this organization. You have Scotty, who, as mentioned earlier in this thread`, as a GM may have the results but maybe not the best track record as GM? And he's now older than sin and I'm convinced the only reason he's here is to secure his place for his son. So... Tell me, who is the one person in the front office that come the off season you will be convinced will make the right deals to get the hawks back to the cup next year?

I would trade our front office now for many other crappier teams front office.

I mean we are lucky to get the long term contracts that we did to lock up the core, but anyone could have see that you need to lock up those players. It's the intricate details of filling out a team and signing the right pieces that are what make championship teams. And I honestly am not confident in anyone in the front office being able to to that. And worst part, there is no one to stand upto McD now, and I bet you ever single move is going to be run through him now.

I'm worried that too much is going to get moved in order to get a big splash back.

For some reason I thought he was on his way out too... Not that he would be very comforting.

I don't think so, considering that he was brought in to explain hockey to McPimp.

Yeah I remember reading an article around here earlier about him, didn't care long enough to remember what it said. And anyone who is brought in to teach McPimp anything, will not be around very long, either on their own accord or not.

It still baffles me how fans still don't question the fact that he worked his whole life in marketing to build a marketing Juggernaut for "arguably" one of the greatest sports franchises in the world. And yet when he finally became president, he bolted. All eyes were on him, ever move scrutinized, everything under a microscope, he greenlights the Soriono deal and bolts. He's a coward.

I'm not too worried about the summer, we have great prospects, Keith, Seabs, Kane, Toews, Hammer, Campbell, Bolland, Hossa, etc. are all gonna be back. If we win, Niemi will have a cup to his name, and if he stays(which he will) that is still a top three team in the NHL no matter who you surround those guys with. I'm not too worried.

Now am I worried about attending a game next year? No, chances are I won't go to one because ticket prices will be like paying for a new car.

That's a big IF... remember Huet was McD's Splash and with him now it control I wouldn't put it past him to low ball Niemi. Sure it's great to have all those players back, but they were all here last year too and we didn't win the cup, it took some tweaks and experience. Does someone say it's harder to repeat than to win it?

Yep. Everyone will be gunning for you...

One of the biggest unknowns is the effect is will have on team chemistry... I'm not sure that the NBA model of paying a few players the big bucks while paying everyone else considerably less is a good idea either.

I know McD obviously has a say, but in control? If he's in total control and the Hawks win it this year I'll turn in my fan card til he's gone.

you move Huet and you're fine. or, move Versteeg and Sopel and you're fine cause you'll bring up Dowell and Bickell or Skille. The cap stuff isn't as big a deal as the fans are making it. It's not like we HAVE to dump 6 players. Watach McD/Scooter will move 1 or 2 and be hailed a hero. Just like him signing the big 3. they were going to be signed anyway.

If he wasn't in control how do you explain everyone who has disagreed with him, now being gone?

I just don't see Huet going anywhere, it's too close to an admission.

For a bunch of reasons. Savard was a good move, Tallon couldn't properly do his job with McD there, and we pretty much forced to leave due to it. And Rocky cares a whole lot about $$$$$$$.

Who has the cojones to say no to him?[/quote]No one that counts. And how great must it be to be Rocky, knowing full well what's going on but yet be completely shielded from it. And you can't say that he doesn't because he wouldn't be the businessman he is today if he didn't know what was going on at all times.
