He can't make a decision, his heart wants the Sox, his pocket wants the Cubs. I personally see him going back to Boston if it's taking him this long.

Agreed. I think he's fucking with us and using the Cubs/Theo as leverage to get a better off from the Red Sox. I've seen this type of situation too many times not to see the writing on the wall.

I mean... having Lester here would be great and all.

But he's 31... why didn't the Cubs just invest in Samardzija for cheaper? Or was the Addison Russel deal just too sweet to pass up?

Log jam at shortstop... luckily you can spread those guys out around the field and teach them other positions.

Seriously?

Cubs tried multiple times to extend Shark, and he wouldn't do it. Wants to test FA.

I would be surprised if he goes back to Boston. My opinion is he has already been a part of that franchise breaking a curse and winning multiple WS. If he wanted to just win WS rings he could have inked with the Giants.

It just feels that the Cubs pose a challenge and a WS is more meaning ful than another ring with teams that have done so over the years.

Sounds cliche but I believe it holds credence.

This is like Christmas as a kid. You don't want to go to sleep in fear that you won't see Santa.

C'mon Lester...I mean Santa, we as fans have been real good all year.

Just ask Dews and Brett. :yep:

I just wish I could still get excited about (potential) splash signings like this.

I'm 27 years old and have been following the Cubs since 1995.... just seems like every time I get disappointed.

Luckily I trust Theo more than anyone and if he lands Lester there's a damn good reason for it.

Anyone remember Garciaparra, Fukudome, Soriano, Harden etc etc etc...

I was thinking about the Soriano deal today. Crazy how 8/$136 was seen as a monster contract not too long ago. Soriano earned that contract IMO, he got too much shit for the rest of the teams struggles. Harden couldn't stay healthy, and Garciaparra was traded for and lost nobody relevant in the process. You take a swing on some moves and you miss, but that can't stop you from making moves in the future.

I mean Lester probably won't be worth his AAV down the line, but that isn't necessarily the point. This is a franchise altering move, and really sets the precedent for the Cubs movement going forward.
