Word is the Giants, Cubs, Dodgers and the Red Sox have all gone 6/150. But there is a team willing to go 7/175 but that wont matter because he will go where he wants to. That team is not known and could be a 5th team.

I called it a while back that it would take 150 to sign him.

Yanks like Scherzer more. Makes me speculate the mystery team might be Detroit knowing that they are going to lose Max.

A little too much happiness about Chicago baseball when the off season is a complete flop for the Cubs if they don't get Lester (or Scherzer, but that's not happening)

Rodgers and Bruce Levine thinks Chicago is the most likely destination. Rodgers tweeted it and Bruce said it this morning on 670AM. Acquiring Lester, Hammels, Montero and another bat would help -- but none of those players will impact our team on the level that Kris Bryant will.

The reality is this: Some of our prospects will bust out and others will be successful - but Kris Bryant will be an MVP caliber player in the bigs and change our franchise like no player has before. Bryant is the savior, but in the mean time I'll be happy with Lester.

Makes me think it's the Yankees or Angels. Detroit is going to have enough on their hands at trying to extend Price. Doubt they get involved in Lester. And if they need pitching that desperately, why didn't they go all out and extend Scherzer?

Slow down sparky. Let the kid play a year of MLB before anointing him the savior. That guy at first named Anthony Rizzo isnt to shabby.

As good as Soler looked, I'm not as convinced about any of our prospects as I am about Kris Bryant. He's a total stud. But you are right, Rizzo is a cornerstone type player. I'm really looking forward to seeing Rizzo, Bryant, Soler, and Castro in the lineup together.

If Lester signs with the Giants -- it will be enjoyable watching Bryant and Rizzo hit moonshots off him.

This is the problem with fans. Management has to evaluate all options, future options, etc. Fans consider it "a complete flop" if Lester gets away. I want him, and I think he changes the culture and accelerates the process. But no player comes with guarantees of rings.

Theo is rational, and knows it's hard to get guys. He also will have plenty of other plans. Some of which may be waiting for next offseason, unfortunately.

Buster Olney thinks if the Cubs miss on Lester that Shields would be a big target for the Cubs.

I wouldn't be thrilled with Shields, but I'd be OK with it if it isn't high $.

If it's remotely close to Lester, I'd be sick.

the homerun ball for shields is whats scary. if he gets anywhere near lester money than that team should just close up shop.

Yep, latest rumors. Giants GM is hinting that its between Cubs and Red Sox. A Red Sox blogger is claiming that Lester has decided on the Cubs over the Red Sox. Jim Bowden is also saying its between the Red Sox and Cubs.

just heard owners are involved now so decision should be made by tonight or tomorrow..

part of me thinks if he wanted to go back to Boston he would've done so already.....

im just hoping the wait is because their (cubs) putting together that 7th yr option package that rickets and lester are satisfied with..
I see the deal being 6/141 with some kind of option/incentive for a 7th yr to kick in

Sucks that after the Sox lowballed him, they are still "pulling at his heartstrings".

Cubs need to push the idea of him being a legend if he wins in Chicago. Reverse Another Curse.

They are saying he isnt going with the highest offer. He is choosing where he wants to go over money.
