His first half stats have been wildly bad since the Washington game. It's been 3 weeks in a row of blowouts with zero stats in the first half and then padding in the second half.
True. Like, truly historically bad offensive first halves for several games in a row now.

And yet, Williams is basically exactly on par with Jayden Daniels....

Caleb's on pace for a 20/5 season, which would be one of the best statistical seasons of any Bears quarterback ever. A 3:1 or 4:1 TD/INT ratio is nuts for a player who's been through as much turmoil as he has this season.
Man, almost like he's really friggin' good or something.

Yes but his EPA is amongst the worst in the league by a wide margin too.

Some websites/statisticians are a little more kind to Caleb than ELO but Daniels is amongst the QB Elite while Williams is floundering below busts like our favorite Justin Fields. By this time next year, we will all know if there really was any potential or if it just was looking good against PAC 12 crap defenses.
What is EPA?

Only an idiot would think the entire 2nd half is garbage time

Garbage time stats would be like Trubisky against Saints in 2019 but Caleb against Vikings(1st game), Lions, Packers was not garbage time.
Since it is much easier for offenses/teams to come back against multi-score deficits, the definition of garbage time is changing. Brady was down 28-3 in the SB so all of those 2nd half points were technically garbage time stat padding scores!!!!!!

All correct. Just terrible efficiency and clearly struggling.

And yet......

Are you guys getting it yet?

Williams is not playing anywhere near his potential, is clearly struggling, is in a completely stagnant offense.

And yet he STILL is having an objectively great season by rookie QB standards and is RIGHT THERE with the presumptive Rookie of the Year.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
One is in playoff contention with one of the most efficient offenses in the NFL and makes teams pay with his legs a lot more than CW.

But I forgot on CCS, ppg is not a QB stat now and nor is W-L record. Love how this changes every year.

The fact that Caleb put up numbers that close to Jayden Daniels behind this shit offense actually shows how damn good he is even when struggling.

Get Caleb behind a real NFL O-line commanding a real NFL offense, and he's going to be great...

Very similar until you look at the teams records and watch them play. I don't think Daniels is all that and do believe Caleb is going to be very good if not great., but if you watch the games much like anytime you watch a Bears offense vs any other offense, one looks effortless and the other is a grind and claw and scrape for any bit of advancement.
Yep. And the "bust" has an OL that is as porous and cluelessly coordinated as I've ever seen, led by an OL coach who's been behind some of the franchise's worst OL play... ever. Yeah, keep running for your life, Caleb, taking massive hits and somehow rise above it all. Come on, be Superman. It's easy, right?

this is merely speculation on your part. we dont really know what his potential is. what if this is it?? im not saying it is, just pointing out youre basing this on something that is not truly quantifiable

And behind an OL coordinated by an actually good OL coach... please, for the love of God!

That's my point. I think he can hit that elite tier but if he doesn't, was it ever there to begin with?

Only an idiot would think the entire 2nd half is garbage time

Only an idiot would compare Caleb's stats and Daniels' stats and expect people to take them at face value.

Daniels is playing in meaningful games - Caleb's getting blown out in the first half week in and week out and then having much better stats in the 4th when the game may or may not be out of reach. This isn't good. Daniels has been better by every measure and comparing them just makes us look fucking stupid.

You're defaulting to an argument that doesn't actually apply here.

"It's garbage time!" is a classic argument, but almost every single Bears game has been close in the 4th quarter.

And in the 3 exceptions (Cardinals, 49ers, Vikings), Williams wasn't putting up big numbers.

So no, his impressive numbers have not come when the game is out of reach.

You're right that Daniels and the Washington offense have looked much better than Williams and the Bears offense.

And yet.....

I wonder what this seasons sneaky candidate to win "MVP" ; stats looked like late in games last season......they're likely a reason nobody traded for him and he got benched despite being in 1st place.
