He has actually done some great quarterbacking in the second halves of games. Never seen a Bears QB do that. But he should be doing that through 4 quarters. At least 3 quarters by now.
Trubisky/Fields would have curled up in the fetal position after a bad 1st half. Cutler would have been throwing picks left & right. Caleb does deserve credit for not folding

I’m not sure what Fields is doing on the Steelers has anything to do with what he did(or didn’t do) on the Bears. Please articulate.

My point was about Fields on the Bears, when he had a bad 1st half, it usually didn’t turn around in the 2nd half.

Caleb hasn't really been "turning it around" in the second half recently though. He's limping through these games now.

The whole damn argument for the haul was:
1. Justin's better than what he's been given credit for
2. The roster and coaching staff were inadequate

We shouldn't be celebrating Caleb's empty stats - he absolutely needs to be better.

Justin being bad at comebacks and 2 minute drills but then being good/better at them in Pittsburgh is troubling.

Could you imagine "the haul" with Poles drafting additional worthless players, having a shitty qb still on the roster, possibly extending that shitty qb with a piss poor contract and no qb in sight for this draft (which is blah for qb and bears likely picking no higher than 8th)?

Give it up....the NFL and Mike Tomlin told you all you need to know about the value of RB1 as a qb

He was better as a Steeler though.

Admit it, Pittsburgh is run better than Chicago.

Could have traded back, gotten Maye + extra draft capital, sat him (because that's what good teams do to their rookie QBs), played Fields and been better in the short term and long term.

Instead we've got our stud statpadder out here taking sacks at a record rate!

Jayden had a legit running game with Robinson and what seems like a good OL.

Caleb has better WRs but everything else worse.

Caleb’s numbers are shockingly decent given the turmoil. Let’s be real most of us would quit by now.

What was NE offering?

So basically you think maye is significantly better than Caleb?

You weren't getting much more than parts to move from 1 to 3

They are

He was slightly better because they protected him.....but he still couldn't produce yards/points

You're defaulting to an argument that doesn't actually apply here.

"It's garbage time!" is a classic argument, but almost every single Bears game has been close in the 4th quarter.

And in the 3 exceptions (Cardinals, 49ers, Vikings), Williams wasn't putting up big numbers.

So no, his impressive numbers have not come when the game is out of reach.

You're right that Daniels and the Washington offense have looked much better than Williams and the Bears offense.

And yet.....
I guess if you actually looked at all the sacks, all the completions on 3rd down that don't result in a 1st, and all those games where Caleb 'led' the Bears to fewer than 20 points, you'd get a clearer picture.

YPP = Bears 4.5 last in NFL
Net yards per pass = Bears 4.8 last in NFL
PPG = Bears 19.9 is 25th in NFL
3rd down conversions = Bears 32.3% is 31st in the NFL

Williams has left too many opportunities and plays on the field this year to be in the considerations for OROTY. He was already going to have to have stats at a higher level to be in the consideration while on a team that is not making a playoff push. His offensive line has done him no favors but if Williams had connected on a few more deep ball plays that were there for the making and also just showed a little more consistency where we have the offense not show up for entire first halves, he likely would be right there in the consideration. Just too many gaps in his game at this point.

Just from watching the games, it feels like the Bears are attempting short and quick passes to try to counteract the pressure and the offensive line's inability to maintain blocks. Hence the lower YPA and YPP.

He's been wildly inaccurate this season; esp on deeper balls; has been sacked a ton but hasn't had a typical rookie implosion season.

With 3 games to go id probably give him a C+...lots of room for growth but you can see there is talent there to be a top 10ish qb with a better line and coaching.......vs the two previous 1st round qbs drafted who were what they were with limited to zero upside

Caleb's on pace for a 20/5 season, which would be one of the best statistical seasons of any Bears quarterback ever. A 3:1 or 4:1 TD/INT ratio is nuts for a player who's been through as much turmoil as he has this season.

He's been more erratic than any of the other rookie QB's, but his best moments are far and away better than any of the other quarterbacks best moments, which gives you a glimpse of what could be if they can find a way not to pair him up with the worst head coach and offensive coordinator in the history of the franchise.
This is pretty damn fair and accurate. At his best, he definitely looks better than any of the other rookies.

Plus, he’s kept them in most games regardless of how they start.

The guy is tough as nails too. He has yet to even appear on the injury list and he gives it everything he has game in, game out.

Truly horrid numbers. Terrible offense. Williams is certainly struggling.

And yet….

His numbers are RIGHT THERE with Daniels.

There are a few who will refuse to admit the obvious.
