It's normally somewhat active, lately been slow though because there has been little news, but the pre-season is starting up soon, so it will pick up again. It's not like the Cubs forum, but it's way more than the Big 10 Forum, and sometimes is on the White Sox forum's level as far as activity, sometimes more. IGT's are usually at least 10 pages, so it's decent. We got a few quality posters, but not much of a supporting staff. We recently added an International Leagues subforum too.

O RLY!

@Brett & @Firecawks. SHUT THE **** UP. Marshall and Thornton are the same pitcher. Since 09: same FIP, same xFIP, same BB/9. Marshall has a lower ERA and HR/9, while Thornton K's more per 9.

@Firecawks, you have no doubts Thornton will bounce back? What is it about a hard throwing lefty that is 35 makes you think that? He's not gonna be able to keep the velocity up for much longer.

#1 And if you take out 09 when Marshall's ERA+ was 103, I'm sure than Marshall's FIP, xFIP, and BB/9 are better... Marshall didn't really emerge as dominant until 2010.

#2 My way of saying something I don't really believe so the other party takes in the rest of the post instead of continuing his fact-ignoring fantasy of Thornton being the best LHSU in baseball.

Yes. Your idiocy is a big, and recurring deal, around here.

If it is that big of a deal, you can utilize the ignore list feature brought to you by vBulletin.

Now you're including all the time when Marshall was a starter, it's common knowledge that Marshall is only good as a reliever and didn't really emerge until 2009... now you're using too big of a sample size and including Marshall's early career when he was shaky and not even a reliever anyway.

I was merely using your parameters.

1. Closing and set-up are pretty much the same, you go 1 innign trying to keep a lead. he simply sucked at the beginning of this year.
2. No.
3. Career numbers aren't what we should look at, it's about who is better right NOW.
4. You're a homer.

Marshall didn't establish himself as a solid st-up man until 2010, so let's look at 2010 and 2011:
2010: Thornton 161, Marshall 160,
2011: Thornton 128, Marshall 173,

You won't count 2011, and 2010 was so close that there really was no difference. Thornton has been declining since 2009 according to ERA+, Marshall has been getting better every year in the same time-span.

Thornton is going to bounce back, I have no doubts about that. However, Marshall's 173 this year is higher than anything Thornton ever posted, though he did post a 172 in both 2008 and 2009.

Marshall projects to be around the same 170-ish mark this year while Thornton figures to be around the 160-ish mark. That said, do we know for sure that the park figures are accurate? No, so Marshall very well may decline by Great American Ballpark, but it's a pretty safe bet that Marshall is better than Thornton. However, Venters is likely better than both.

pitching at us cellular field, in the AL VS pitching at Wrigley in the NL. I wouldnt sit there and crown marshall the end all be all of closers. is he good? yes.

With everyone leaving the NL it might make no difference what Theo does since it will be an AL 4-0 win in the WS for a few years

Nah, just this post ;)

We've already told him why it's not always a sure bet that the superior league will win the World Series.

The "4-0" part "for the next few years" is what makes it worse, the best team in baseball does play in the NL after all...

I'm sorry. I forgot all the all stars the padres have. And even the red sox. Oh wait.....

The Red Sox have and it's not just Epstein and Hoyer. They hired tons of scotuing people who have had good reputations. Starting now they do..

You're tempting me to call you a moron and get this moved to the flame thread when you report it.

Stop. Just stop. Get your head out of your ass.

Waldo is probably right, but it is arguable. In either case, your logic will be :turrible: and you will embarrass yourself when Waldo slaughters you in a debate.

Hell
Wrigley put some soap in your mouth and stay out of this you're classless.

Many of the red sox all stars were not home grown product

Now the Cubs may have the best scouting in baseball but to say they do is horrible and you won't know if they do do years to come. Four minimum really
