M. Koivu hurt tonight (hand). This will probably be a break for the Hawks if he's out for an extended period of time.

The Hawks are now in 10th after the Dallas Stars lost to the New Jersey Devils 1-0. The Stars have dropped from a secure 3rd place seed that they occupied for over a month, down to 11th in just 10 games, going 1-8-1. I have also heard that they have no owner currently and the team is having some financial troubles (this from a good friend of mine in Dallas that is the biggest Stars fan I know).
The Hawks now are tied with 3 other teams, all sitting with 68 points...Anaheim, LA and Dallas. Seems the field is starting to thin out a little bit, and if the Hawks can continue to win 2 out of every 3 games, we have a great shot at grabbing a 4th or 5th seed by the end of the season.
No one is catching Vancouver, but they always choke in the playoffs anyway! :doorrofl:

Too many 3 point games. Teams are doing what they can to ensure they earn at least a point.

No doubt. Id like see one of these options. 10-minute 4-on-4 OT before shootout, 5 minutes of three-on-three, leave it how it is except switch ends so teams both have long changes.

Something needs to force teams into attempting regulation wins... Anyone else have suggestions?

The best part is the Hawks still have multiple games against the teams ahead of them and plenty of time to move into the top 8.

Just gotta make the playoffs. Who knows what can happen from there.

If I'm not mistaken we can get the 8-seed tonight with a win.

Another quick thing I thought was telling. The Hawks are the only non-playoff team with a positive goal differential.

Considering their affection for losing one-goal games, that's not too surprising. It does tell you how close the Hawks are to being a top team in the West. If only they could put it all together ...

Ya you're right. Losing one goal games and winning by a higher number.. It also tells you that they are rarely out of games.

Flames win 1-0 over Blues. Hawks win & still lose ground.
