so bourns WAR last year was a 6.0...WTF? his OPS wasnt impressive and neither was his power. his OPS+ was ehh and he gets caught stealing too much and he isnt trout in the outfield. I dont get how his WAR is a 6 and how he is going to get paid so much.

Which WAR you looking at?

May have to do with defense. The defensive metrics sometimes get overweighted in my opinion when calculating WAR.

It's definitely the defensive component buoying the WAR then. Half that WAR on both FanGraphs and B-Ref are from defense. He is a good defender by the eyeball test but the defensive metrics might be a bit too kind.

baseball ref

It is definitely the defense component in the baseball ref version. Remember this is the one that was saying Barney was the second most valuable player in the NL for much of the season.

Bourn is a good leadoff hitter, but as soon as he loses a step or two he becomes a below average player.

this is why i hate WAR. I dont see any value in him ( at what he will be paid )

Yankees are shoping Cano? Maybe that is the big lefty bat Hahn is looking at.

Yeah he would. Hahn is rumored to be looking for a big lefty bat. I doubt its Cano though, just speculation.

I thought I had found it, but it contradicted what I read somewhere.

I guess it wasn't Heyman, but I've read from somewhere they're looking to trade for a lefty bat.
