The walking soap opera is back is anyone excited for this to end? Lol

I am. Just get this shit over with.

It can't possibly end like the comics, so I say drop a nuke on them all.
Have zombie-ism jump to animals and insects.
Bit by a mosquito? Zombie.
Eat meat? Zombie.
Pet a dog? Zombie.
Ride a horse? Zombie.
Walk outside? Zombie.

Seriously though- I always thought there could only be 2 endings that would satisfy me....one more than the other.
Ending 1-(my least favorite but acceptable) have kids born after the outbreak be immune.
They could eventually eliminate the threat.

Ending 2, and the one that I always hoped for, was for Rick to get smoked and have it be a bastardized sopranos type deal.
Seeing through his eyes as he dies....and then see the world as a zombie sees it when he opens his eyes after turning.
Maybe have him chomp Judith or Micchone.

That would have been cool.

I watched the latest episode.

I am just gonna keep lmao at how terrible the show has become.

My biggest laugh was during that scene where Rosita was in the jeep with the Red armor dude.

They went to rescue a trooper on the ground with zombies closing in.

Literally all he had to do was run over and hop in the jeep, but he did what all these armored troopers do.... cower and get torn apart.

I mean, they literally pulled him in half simply because he was holding the Red armor dude's hands and the zombies had his legs.

Like, okay fine this idiot was held so tight by his boss and a gaggle of roided up zombie teamsters, that they pulled him in half.

But listen folks, we got 1 of the 2 idiot troopers who managed to flip their jeep somehow, let's gtfo.

Maybe I'm missing something, but a support vehicle drives up and heads off for some reason.... then the rescue jeep circles back into the horde just before the scene cuts.

How did these morons survive a zombie apocalypse, much less 10+ years of it?

For serious.

My wife was literally yelling at the TV: "OMG JUST LET HIM GO!!!"

Intentionally trying to break the horde in half?

I dunno. For such a well organized militia, their battle tatics blow chunks.

I am intrigued by the idea of the Commonwealth and wish it could have been fleshed out better than just acting as a finish line for this show to limp over.

Maybe we will get that in one of the thirty seven spinoffs this show will have.

If I drove heedless into a horde to save my guys, and saw one of them ripped apart like that, I feel like I'd get the rest back to that line with the machine guns.

But if I was going to assist that jeep in halving that horde.... why would I circle INTO it.... the jeep wasn't going around it or slowly heading back up the hill to bait the zombies, it just kinda slowed into the horde that just killed their buddy.

Its just more shitty production from a show runner who clearly lets this shit slide or doesn't even notice.

I get the sense Kang says to them "Here's the plot, script up a zombie thing in a few places and I'll use a couple of them to keep the gore weirdos happy"

They had one in the opening and this one, and about 35+ minutes of the episode was entirely devoid of any involvement by the zombies.

I just need to see how badly Kang crash lands this shitshow.

I have pretty much accepted that the zombies are more scenery than any real obstacle and plot device. These remaining episodes are going to hyper focus on the Commonwealth, where life is about as zombieless as you can get. They have dry cleaned pant suits and makeup. It's kind of jarring really.

I got the AMC+ app, so they already got the first two episodes available to stream. Getting those back to back was a more satisfying watch, but mostly because I now only have six episodes left. With all these spinoffs, I expect very little closure with most of the characters.

I just pray to everything that is holy that before this run of episodes ends, I get to watch Eugene die. It really irks me how many better characters he has outlived and his "morning after" scenes with his sweetie make me physically ill.

I want him to die and I want it to be horrific please and thank you.

Listen, Kang had to work in humiliation porn somewhere.

Is this show on now? If so, what season? Feel like I might have missed 1 or 2. Is slick Rick back?

These spinoffs.... I am going to have to watch, if only to see how bad it gets.
Maggie and negan in Manhattan.... great location that I would love to see, but did it have to be Negan and Maggie?

Rick and Michonne- movie scrapped, series greenlit. How will they justify ditching judith and rick jr? Location undisclosed, but they say it is a new location in the walking dead universe. They also mention it will be "red machete rick and Woodbury michonne"
Who knows- maybe it will be ok.

... Daryl in Europe is the one I actually am hopeful about. I want to see the new breed of zombie. Faster, and apparently smarter.

The shows will probably suck, but I cant help but be interested in the new zombies and how brutal life is around them.

I don't consider what I am about to say as spoilers...just commenting on the "scenery" for the upcoming episode (second to last).

It took all the seasons between 1 and now to finally see a return of the crafty zombie.
When Rick first met glen in the store, a zombie tried to smash the glass with a rock. There were also several zombies that climbed fences and a ladder.

Now we have the new strain teeing up the new series.

They should have brought back crafty zombies years ago. Would have made it much more interesting.

I half ass wonder if Daryl will think back and remember those zombies- he is the only one left alive from that scene (aside from rick).

As for the second to last episode- better than many we have seen the past few years, but not good enough for me to really care about what happens.

I know Daryl lives based on the next show.

They announced the maggie/negan show... and my greatest hope for the finale of TWD is that the announcement was subterfuge and everyone gets killed but Daryl.

So- for those a week ahead and saw the second to last episode...
Is the zombie picking up the knife a macguffin? a deus ex machina perhaps?

It could be that the girl dropping it and the zombie retrieving it was simply to show the advanced strain of zombie will pick things up or use them.
But given how ridiculous the last couple seasons have been, I am fully expecting someone to get zombie-stabbed.

I wouldnt put it beyond this crew to have the ending be zeke gaining control of the kingdom until judith is old enough to lead it, exiling pamela, and having her get zombie-stabbed.

Realistically, I am less interested about how they limp TWD to the barn than I am seeing if they tee up Daryl and the maggie and negan shows.

A thought that has occurred to me is this-
Given that there has been zero motion on the Rick Grimes movies and they instead will do a handful of episodes.... Given that the Daryl spinoff will take place and be filmed in europe, I am starting to wonder if they changed directions on the whole Rick grimes thing, play it off that the CRM shipped him off to europe, Daryl gets wind of it, and they wind up having a Daryl and Rick european vacation show.

After all, Carol dropped out becaushe didnt want to film in france. Lincoln dropped out because he was tired of being across the ocean from home... seems like a prime opportunity to bring the zombie bros back together.

This whole "evolved" zombie feels so much like another mishandling by Angela Kang's TWD. You should have been slowly building on that since the time jump. How much better would it have been to mix that in with the Whispers. It's a double fake out. First you think it's zombies, but realize it's just people in zombie masks. Then later, nope, really is evolving zombies. Start slow with a walker turning a door knob or something and keep getting bigger until you have zombies climbing over walls in the final episodes. I want to believe it could happen, but you put no effort into making me believe it...other than the Season 1 moment you pointed out.

And yeah, I can totally see Governor Milton going down by "zombie stab" and it would have been far cooler if it was something we had been building on for the last few seasons instead of a twist in your limp to the finish line.

Especially Daryl. Maggie does not end up too far from where they are now, but how the hell does Daryl Dixon get into any situation that he ends up taking a post apocalyptic trip to Europe???

Movies officially scrapped. Now you will get Spinoff #3...the Rick & Michonne Show!!!

I cannot wait to see how it occurs.
Aside from suspecting he is tailing rick, i cannot think of any justification that would be anything other than ridiculous.

I am binging up to current before the finale.

Watching the 2nd to last episode right now.

I like the little Judith-narrated history lessons because they seriously remind me of how good the show used to be.

That little bit where Carol rekt the Terminus creeps gave me a chill and I said out loud "Damn she used to be such a badass."

PS: Every episode I try to come up with an idea of how they are both manufacturing the clonetrooper armor as well as keeping it so pristine and shiny in a post-Apocalypse where they are guarding slave laborers. Its like someone said "Omg lets make them look like those guys in Star Wars, I'm sure the nerds will LOVE it."

A woman in a pantsuit shot a child who had been included in an assault team that was on a possible suicide mission to depose that woman.

The brilliance of Angela Kang at work.

PS: Zombies learned to climb but apparently lost their sense of smell during covid.

On the armor...I am good with it. (I am actually more flabbergasted that everyone hasn't manufactured some...or that there isn't a group that earns its living building and selling)

It is nothing more than EVA foam, something they probably could have found in bulk in one of the hundreds of thousands of abandoned warehouses or factories...maybe just a train car filled with sheets of it.

It shapes easy with a heat gun and even a cardboard mold.
It is padded, light, and closed cell so it won't absorb blood- just a quick hose down and done.

As for color- they are powerful enough to not have to fear ambush nowadays, and they frequently clear large hordes... makes sense to stand out in the crowd.

...exploiting already built items for gain is a glaring hole for all these years.
Hit an Amazon warehouse, sams club, home depot... you have all the tools and material you need to stay safe.

Instead of Hilltop suffering catastrophe when a tree falls, maybe go to home depot, reinforce your wall, and grab a chainsaw to take down the trees waiting to kill you.

Just a thought.

The whole argument of this show, is that the humans are the more dangerous foe.

And after a decade of learning this lesson over and over.

They decided to mass produce bright white armor that allows their troops to be seen much easier by hostile humans.

I get your argument about using it against zombies.... you can see your guys and they can see you, less chance of friendly fire.

And sure they could be raiding warehouses like you said, so why not show the laborers doing just that instead of fucking around with railroad ties?

Literally fucking with railroad ties instead of tying the elements of the show together by having them raid an Amazon warehouse (free advertising) for that EVA foam.

Have the characters say "We use this stuff to mass produce our armor."

At least then we could argue about whether the EVA foam would have survived and been available in quantity within range of the Commonwealth outposts, and have factories available with appropriate labor and materials and maintenance, etc.

Shit writing, shit show.

Well spinoffs so guaranteed no to that ending, though it'd be gr8.

I get the sense we're about to find out that the zombie virus evolved (sound familiar?) and became weaker (sound familiar?) and so the zombies are smarter, but now their bites can kill you, but not if you have a hospital that can help you with IV drugs and whatnot until your system fights off the virus.

So a bunch of our main characters are gonna get bitten, and then survive the onslaught by some miracle savior moment (Rick? Michonne?)

Episode prolly ends with Lydia getting her arm re-attached and Jerry going to jail retroactively for chopping it off when he coulda just given her some ibuprofen.
