Foles is an upgrade to trubisky. Trubisky is done. He’s not a starter. There’s no chance he becomes a top 25 QB.

That being said - was his team is still bad. Foles came in and the offense failed to put points up on the board in the 3rd quarter.

It’s kind of like trubisky’s miraculous 4th quarter against the lions. I was happy to see it but that didn’t make this team good, and it didn’t make trubisky a good QB.

Foles will take this team to 8-8.

This defense is not the elite world beater they were 2 years ago. This offense will still struggle greatly.

I agree but I’m sitting back and enjoying it.

They probably only need a 46% winning percentage in the last 13 games to get the 7th seed.

Looking at the schedule, that’s definitely a realistic reality.

Foles threw 5 touchdown passes on 5 seperate drives in 2 quarters. The refs stole Robinson's TD and Miller barely didn't catch another but that would have had to be some kind of record. There were some lucky passes and we were playing a lot of 2nd team but 5 TD drives in a half is a lot of offense. Miller didn't bring one in but the point stands.

What robinson TD??! That was an interception. Calling it a TD in the first place was a shit call.

Again this isn’t a foles issue. I wanted foles starting the whole time and you can go back and find that if you want.

There was never any reason to start trubisky. They’re lucky to have won the 2 games he played.

Regardless - this offense is not good. This defense is top 10 but definitely not a super bowl winning defense like they were 2 years ago.

Watch from a good angle. What I saw was Robinson was clearly down before the db ripped it from him. Dual possession guess to offensive player so there is no scenario where it's not a TD.

We literally just saw the only scenario that matters because it was the real life one that actually happened. in that scenario it was not a touchdown. Go back and watch. They called it an INT (because it was).

Lmao.

Agreed about the D. We have a gaping whole in the middle but I'm intrigued by the offense.
I think we can put up some points with Foles especially if we can run like we did in the first two games. He seems to have a knack for directing an offense. Last year I don't think he'd hae a chance but our pass boxing has looked a lot better. He's never finished a full season so will have to wait and see but I'm more optimistic than I was yesterday.

For now I'm going to agree with the OP. Although it's a big relief to have Mitch riding pine, there are a lot of holes on the Bears roster and good teams should be able to exploit them.

The only thing that could change this perception is if Foles can lift up the play of the supporting cast and the Def can feed off of it. The OL is my biggest concern. They need to keep Foles healthy.

The defense isn’t even close to 2018. **** it’s not even close to 2019. They just have to be competent and the offense needs to grow with Foles.

This isn’t a SB team right now but all you need is a chip and a seat. Get in the playoffs and it’s a new season.

You're probably right, but we're not going to know for sure until they start playing against better teams, or teams that aren't decimated by injuries.

Personally, I think a fully healthy ATL team is better than this IND team the Bears play next week, but on paper, they'll be the toughest matchup so far. Things will get even more interesting the following week against Tampa Bay.

If they somehow win these next two games, I don't know how you can make an argument that they are not legit. It's hard to fake 5-0. I think they have a good chance to at least split the next two, but if they lose both, then I think that validates all of the uneasiness and skepticism of these first 3 weeks.

Is Foles supposed to be a top 25 QB or become one at 31?
I think the QB move is more linear with different upsides and downsides.

The Bears do suck as a whole team. That's why I've been saying it's coaching. They should have the talent to not suck, anywhere. Even with Mitch.
This is historical. Rebuild to rebuild, GM to GM, HC to HC. The same crap is being drilled into our player's heads. For some reason coaches come to the Bears and teach playing it safe. Didn't Jefferyes get in trouble for one handing a catch in practice? Did a present roster WR get in trouble for something similar? They've made Mack almost invisible. I don't notice the huge cushions given to the Bears the Bears give to other team's WRs.
If you don't practice risky one handed catches because you'll get in trouble you can't make them reliably when playing.

I still wonder if there's some kid of directive from Papa Bear someone is enforcing on this franchise instead of letting it change with the times.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
Cautiously optimistic, and trying to keep an open mind. I still don't trust Nagy. And for as much as people downplayed Trubisky's 4th quarter comeback against the Lions, why haven't people done the same with Foles against the worst D in the league and a team that is prone to choking?

For the record, I'd rather have Foles as our QB. I've seen Trubisky's inconsistency, and I while I think he can win games, I don't trust that he can win big game after big game after big game with strong performances to the point where we could win a Super Bowl with him.

So let's see what Foles can do. I hope practice reps as the starter gets him ready for Indy. Because they don't seem to be a pushover like the first 3 teams that we struggled against. Fingers fucking crossed.
