Foles is an upgrade to trubisky. Trubisky is done. He’s not a starter. There’s no chance he becomes a top 25 QB.

That being said - was his team is still bad. Foles came in and the offense failed to put points up on the board in the 3rd quarter.

It’s kind of like trubisky’s miraculous 4th quarter against the lions. I was happy to see it but that didn’t make this team good, and it didn’t make trubisky a good QB.

Foles will take this team to 8-8.

This defense is not the elite world beater they were 2 years ago. This offense will still struggle greatly.
No first team reps?

please, Foles could have done ALOT worse.

And let’s not bullshit, Miller and Robinson shit the bed on what should’ve been 2 TDs from Foles, before the actual comeback commenced.

If Cohen is out for the year, it will hurt us, no one is really talking about that. I'm guessing we bring up that RB from the practice squad to fill his role. Foles was awesome, is clearly smarter and has way better touch on the ball. That throw to Miller with a blitz in his face was legit. He can actually throw spirals consistently, unlike Mitch. I mean he almost threw 5 TD's in less than a half of football, after coming in cold. That's amazing.

We have flaws and definitely have gotten lucky facing crappy teams. But now there's a lot of potential on the offensive side to be consistent, and the team has swagger. I'm even more excited to watch next week's game, we can beat the Colts.

Matt Ryan exposed some weaknesses in the secondary. 2nd half the defense shut that shit down and Pagano got aggressive. The defense might not be historically elite, but they’re a great defense still and can adjust gameplans mid game. Something Lovie could never do.

For sure...

Some defenses play off emotion and with zero crowd noise am sure it took some adjustments. Teams also feed off one another and am sure they were fired up like the rest of us when the offense started moving the ball and scoring touchdowns.

Its hard to come in off the bench cold and spur the team on immediately...It took Foles a while to warm up...If he starts this week vs Indy, we will get a better look and see

Is Foles supposed to be a top 25 QB or become one at 31?
I think the QB move is more linear with different upsides and downsides.

The Bears do suck as a whole team. That's why I've been saying it's coaching. They should have the talent to not suck, anywhere. Even with Mitch.
This is historical. Rebuild to rebuild, GM to GM, HC to HC. The same crap is being drilled into our player's heads. For some reason coaches come to the Bears and teach playing it safe. Didn't Jefferyes get in trouble for one handing a catch in practice? Did a present roster WR get in trouble for something similar? They've made Mack almost invisible. I don't notice the huge cushions given to the Bears the Bears give to other team's WRs.
If you don't practice risky one handed catches because you'll get in trouble you can't make them reliably when playing.

I still wonder if there's some kid of directive from Papa Bear someone is enforcing on this franchise instead of letting it change with the times.

This is not a top tier football team but they are better now than they were a week ago and they may be starting to believe they can beat anyone. Yes they have won three close games against weak/injury plagued competition. But to me it says something that they never gave up though undoubtedly some of them knew the best QB was not on the field. They may be able to score enough now to hang when the schedule toughens up.

we can not be that bad since we are 3-0 for the first time since 2007

not just the offense, but the defense improved going into the 4th quarter too...?

Yes. Foles finished the game with 3 TD's....potentially 5. Offense doesn't get that many opportunities to crack the end zone without the defense doing its part in getting the ball back to them quickly.

Dude, the foles led offense scored 0 points in the 3rd quarter and scored 20 points in the 4th.
How much time did Foles have practicing with the 1s the past 3 weeks? Zero. Not sure why we’d expect him to come in and be firing on all cylinders. Didn’t take very long though...

That was the biggest thing, IMO. Our defense has looked awful for more time than our offense has the first 3 games. And it’s supposedly the strength of our team.

We talk about the offense needing consistency...the defense needs it too. They need to keep playing at that level.

Foles knows this O and especially knows what he likes to do in it. Was given the opportunity to run what he wanted and made it work. Nick won't always look great but he will take the team to the playoffs. Mitch may have as well but in then long run it's better than Nick start right now.

Cautiously optimistic, and trying to keep an open mind. I still don't trust Nagy. And for as much as people downplayed Trubisky's 4th quarter comeback against the Lions, why haven't people done the same with Foles against the worst D in the league and a team that is prone to choking?

For the record, I'd rather have Foles as our QB. I've seen Trubisky's inconsistency, and I while I think he can win games, I don't trust that he can win big game after big game after big game with strong performances to the point where we could win a Super Bowl with him.

So let's see what Foles can do. I hope practice reps as the starter gets him ready for Indy. Because they don't seem to be a pushover like the first 3 teams that we struggled against. Fingers fucking crossed.
Great post. I'll take a consistently pretty good O over the feast and famine we've had so far this season. I think Atlanta losing their best DL at the nose, Jerrett, for most of the time Foles was in also quite fortunate for this come back. I'll take it.

I wouldn't say they're a bad team at all. They definitely aren't a great 3-0 team like Seattle or the fucking packers but they also are far from bad.

I guess you don't give Foles a break for this being his first time throwing a football in a game since early last season before he got hurt and Minshew took his job? I do. I don't even think the guy threw much on the sideline to warm up, if he did then they didn't show it on tv.

As i said last night, you better be ready for some good and bad from Foles cause that's what we're gonna get from him but we'll finally get to see a guy who can throw the ball down field and throw really nice deep balls so hopefully Nagy will open this offense up and not get conservative when we're up by 10 points and keep going for more points instead of putting all the pressure on the defense to hold the team from catching up.

My biggest worry is if Foles can stay healthy for as long as this team is winning and still playing.
