The hot dog is older than the sandwich.

Case is closed.

And as for the ketchup thingie......etiquette says no one older than 18 should put ketchup on a hot dog.

Soooooo, the hot dog was one of the first sandwiches?

This is a falsehood. And Chicago did not invent the hot dog, so this no ketchup thing is childish.

It has nothing to do with who invented it. That’s not even being used as evidence.

It technically is etiquette, but no one is saying you can’t do it.

I am not a defender of ketchup, but calling the use of any condiment childish is somewhat ironic.

Honestly, I can't recall ever really liking ketchup. Not that I won't eat it if it's accidentally put on a burger. It's not like it's mayonnaise.

I only really use ketchup as a mixture on meatloaf. 2 parts ketchup 1 part mustard. Kids really like it.

Actually all sandwiches are hot dogs.......there are no sandwiches, only hot dogs.

Ohh! I'm that case I'm going to eat a bread bowl hotdog later! Maybe I'll put some catsup on it!

"But while you can now find these seasoned sausage sandwiches across the American heartland, the hot dog’s iconic home is on the boardwalk at New York’s Coney Island."
