Yes but if next season is like this season, then there shouldn’t be a year 3. No more tanking in 2023
The best thing about them hitting rock bottom is getting 5-6 wins is going to make them look like Bill Belichick to George. Poles is here for at least 4 years, Flus for 3.

A 5-6 win season would make Eberflus the first head coach since Lovie whose first season wasn't also their best.

Loser franchise.

Doing the above allows you to trade down IMO and then just go BPA.

In your scenario, what do the Bears do if PJJ is BPA? Move him to guard? I do understand your thinking though…if you can shore up a need in FA, better to go that route.

The NFC is fucking trash. The Redskins got eliminated yesterday. The Panthers were still alive. Are we buying the Giants?

Look at all the best QB’s under 30 yr, they all are in the AFC. Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Herbert, Lawrence. The NFC has Jalen Hurts?

Quit being pussies. With the correct personnel moves this offseason (if Poles is the goods) and a 4th place division schedule, the Bears SHOULD compete for a playoff spot NEXT year.

Punk ass hoes.

Three seems reasonable to me.
I’d just be more willing to go along with this if Poles hasn’t squandered great opportunities already. Not getting a WR with the top pick like Pickens who has been performing very well and getting a low value position like safety, then drafting a 25 year old WR who’s a total bust, then spending a likely 33nd pick of the draft (admitting his mistake?) on a guy that Pittsburgh’s team and fans wanted to get rid of. This shit just reeks of classic Bears bullshit and makes me have zero faith in the direction of this team. It’s three terrible moves in one offseason-season regarding a position that’s really important to help out the young QB.

I have the same concerns as you. (Especially at WR) But I still think we need to let this play out a bit.

NFL rebuilds don't take long if you land the right players. In the span of 2 off-seasons the Bengals went from 2-14 and the first pick in the draft to the superbowl.

The Bears problem is Fields isn't anywhere near the quarterback Burrow is and there are no WR prospects at the level of Chase. And Burrow did this with a terrible o line getting sacked a ton. So while I don't expect the Bears to do similar it is possible.

Bears apologists before the season: "It's more like a re-tool, not a rebuild."

Bears apologists now: "This is clearly a multi-year rebuild, and it's all Ryan Pace's fault."
It kind of IS Ryan Paces fault though. They had to get rid of a lot of salary and are just getting to the point where we have full compliments of draft picks. I didn’t hear anyone say it would be a “retool” though.

the vikings are a retool

new regime came in and they practically have a majority of the players from the old regime

Had we kept Mack, Smith etc, that would have signaled a retool. That did not happen, it was a rebuild from the start

CCS Reaction after the Philly game: look at how many one score games they've played in. They're right there!

CCS Reaction after getting blown out by the Lions: Destroy it all.

No you were being an idiot. We all know it is easier said than done. We saw Pace fail at it 7 years.

What are you really arguing? That our players suck and people shouldn’t want more draft options so you can continue to complain?
I am as frustrated as anyone about the Bear's. It is also easy to think that it is impossible to think that this team will get better given the previous failures to do it by ownership. I am, however, trying to remind myself how many times I was pissed off by the Bear's basically going through the motions and not tearing the old team apart and totally reinventing it into a winner. My great hope is that Fields is going to be a great all around star in the league. No question about it in my mind.

I will give the team credit for doing this. It took balls to do it and they will have noone else to blame if it doesn't work and can take credit if it does work. Good stuff.
