Playoffs are a crapshoot. How often does the best team win?

If the best teams won every year the cubs would have won it in 2008. To win the ws is as much luck as it is talent.

08 Angels > 08 Cubs
08 Rays > 08 Cubs

Kenny has his faults & some trades i've disliked that he's made.

But, he brought a WS title here. Something I didn't expect at the age of 17.

Something Cubs fans expect every year and never get. :shifty:

My problem is you coming in here and spouting off about stuff you don't understand. Moneyball is still alive and well and the A's are showing this again.

I disagree on that but regardless who won the WS that year? None of those teams.

Phillies, but the Cubs probably would have beat them if they didn't blow it against LAD.

Im not spouting off about anything, its an opinion. you think its alive and well, good for u. I disagree. Now go try to pick fights with somebody else. I will now put u on the "pay no mind" list as i have done with others. i dont need to justify my knowledge to a know it all.

Start an argument? You came into the Cubs forum. All you had to do was say what moneyball is. Discussion over.

You kept dragging it out. As a writer for this site I think you should justify your knowledge of the subject.

You said moneyball failed and that is incorrect. It's still very alive and well.

the bold part: that is opinion, not fact. you keep claiming that its alive and well but have yet to demonstrate how that is fact, not opinion.

It's still very alive and well.

If you are saying that because Billy Beane still uses this philosphy, then you are correct, it is alive and well, but as a winning philosophy, i would say it has not

The book Moneyball discusses the prospect Jeremy Brown who is supposed to be the OBP machine prospect that the scouts would not like because he doesnt have a "baseball body", is the term i believe the book uses. But, he ends up sucking.

I also realize that the term "Moneyball" can be used as a term to mean a way in which an organization can be run in a general scence.

To be honest, I was confused for a little bit between the *** Billy Bean who played baseball, and the GM Billy Beane who played baseball.

Crap! I can't post abput my 2nd-favorite team, the White Sox, any more? Damn it!

:shifty:

I'll kill whoever tries to make Rush agree to that. :shifty:

It's not like Sox fans have been bashing the Cubs (well, Relapse did a little, but stil...) or vice-versa.
