Toews.

Have Rose win a championship...then talk to me

According to that logic, Trent Dilfer is more valuable to the Ravens than Dan Marino to the Dolphins, Dan Fouts to the Chargers and Jim Kelly to the Bills.

When you only have 1 all star in a conference full of teams with 2 3 or 4 all stars, it is a miracle when you make the playoffs under the conditions the Bulls were under. VDN's disagreement with management, no SG, Noah limited minutes.

The Bulls were under no conditions! They underachieved if anything last year by a few games, mostly because of injury. There was absolutely no miracles involved. That team was talented enough to be a low seeded playoff team in a conference that was very weak. You are mistaken this year's Eastern Conference with last year's. Conflicts with management is not a big deal, happens a lot across the board in every sport.

The 76ers making the playoffs this year is more of a miracle than those Bulls teams the last couple of years.

Trent Dilfer wasn't a star player in football like Toews is in hockey. How many pro bowls did Dilfer play in? That is a very bad analogy.

How do you underachieve with management and a head coach in turmoil? You have Noah and Deng sidelined with injuries. NO LOW POST PRESENCE. NO 2 GUARD. All the Bulls had was Derrick Rose.
You trade away 2 of your starters for cap room, and despite all of that you still make the playoffs.

What would you consider a miracle?
According to your logic earlier, no team making the playoffs in the NBA is a miracle, it is "given," because 16 of the 30 teams make the playoffs.

It is damn near a given, you have to be pretty bad NOT to make the playoffs. And if you think all the Bulls had over the last couple of years is Derrick Rose...you haven't been paying attention....

A miracle is something that is considered "amazing" or "extraordinary"...the Bulls making the playoffs or any team making the playoffs for that matter doesn't measure up to the word "miracle"...baseball? Sure....but very seldom in basketball. Who predicted the team wouldn't go back to the playoffs last year? Who??? Very few people...

And I think you overestimate the VDN drama...I have seen teams go through a lot more than that and win titles. You should examine the league...you will find that a lot of that stuff is happening in different variations...with playoff teams. I just think you are overstating things by quite a bit.

Name me one other all-star they had besides Derrick Rose.
I'll give you Taj Gibson, he was solid last and this year
Hinrich was a great backup (though started b/c Gordon left and Salmons traded)
Noah and Deng were productive (when healthy).
Tyrus Thomas was a nut job.
James Johnson had 0 BBall IQ
Aaron Gray did nothing, along with Joe Alexander, and Devin Brown
Warrick Law Murray were all one and done guys
If you thought Jannero Pargo or Lindsey Hunter were the answer at backup PG well....
Miss anyone?

When your boss grabs you by the tie and tells you your playing a player too much, if that is not drama. That is tough to continue to continue to do your job, knowing no matter what, you'll be fired.
Something similar happened near the end of Jordan's era in Chicago with Phil Jackson.
If you know your going to get fired like VDN was, you could have thrown in the towel, but he didn't, and he has my respect. Best wishes to him and the Clippers.

I say neither, the MVP of Chicago is Patrick Kane...
He is an amazing fighter of cab drivers
And an amazing drinker
Yet he remains a great hockey player :shifty:

Na, MVP is Starlin Castro. :shifty:

Career-wise, which is what this is about, it is definitely Toews. This season, Rose.

Don't forget parties with women too. Looking at the long winded article, it appears to be current. Before the 2010-2011 season started.

Wow...I can do you even better...I can name you teams that actually won a playoff series with one allstar...how about that? And you want really amazing? I can name teams that went to the playoffs with NO ALLSTARS!!! How about the 3 playoff teams before Rose even came here? Rose went to the playoffs with that team sans Wallace, what is the miracle in that? And the Hinrich/Gordon/Deng team actually did win a playoff series. In you eyes, is THAT a miracle? I have watched the NBA for 25 years. The Rockets in 1994 was a miracle...hell the 1994 Nuggets were a miracle easily using the meager standards you are using.

When your boss grabs you by the tie and tells you your playing a player too much, if that is not drama. That is tough to continue to continue to do your job, knowing no matter what, you'll be fired.

Its drama...nothing more, nothing less. It was petty and plain drama. At the end of the day everybody went back to doing their jobs. As its supposed to be...happens in most organizations in sports. VDN wasn't traumatized by it, neither was the team. And it definitely doesn't denote some kind of miracle coming in the ensuing weeks. They made the playoffs because they played hard and Bosh decided not to. Nothing miraculous about that. the 1969 Mets they are not.

Derrick Rose is the heart and soul of Chicago. The fact that this is even a discussion is laughable to me. Rose is the individual pride of the city of Chicago right now. He's the great, light hope of the city, and even Hockey/non-basketball fans should see that.

I think he was comparing the athletic accomplishments of the two players not who is necessarily the most popular. That would be achievements individually and the team.

This is about career though.

Toews:
Olympic Gold Medal
Most Outstanding Forward in the Olympics
Stanley Cup Champion
Conn Smythe Memorial Trophy
And Cover of NHL11 ( :) )

That's pretty hard to match.
