Nelson, Smith, McGlinchey are my top 3 for Da Bears assuming Chubb and Barkley gone. Fitzpatrick is next on the list

I get that Vea is a top interior DL prospect, but he's a NG, something we already have in Goldman and darn good one at that.

I don't see him being able to flex out to 5T either (Goldman and Vea).

As high as I am on Nelson, McGlinchey is definitely not a top 10 prospect to me. I'd use a late 1st on him, but nothing more. Just don't think he's a LT at the next level. You don't spend an early 1st for a RT unless he's going to be truly elite.

Nelson (PV be damned, Nelson is a monster), Edmunds (very young, athletic monstrosity), Ward (short but covers a ton of ground and is hella fast)

I feel two of the best players in the draft also fill a big need at ILB in Roquan and Edmunds.

After that Derwin and Ward as elite talents but less of a need IMO.

Love the potential of Davenport as well but the small school thing makes it tough to evaluate.

I feel the Bears are in a good spot at 8, especially with the QB frenzy we’re aboit to witness.

Nelson - Best player in the draft and we have no starting LG. Draft in the trenches and say **** the people who talk about 'positional value'.

Fitzpatrick - Can play Corner and Safety. I have this feeling the Prince is going to flame out. Fitzpatrick/Fuller/Amo/Jackson for one of the best secondaries in the game.

Edmunds - Seems like a physical freak that could we a game changer with some Fangio coaching

I would be good with this....

Goldman can play DE. Going against a tackle will make him even more effective.

Like a few others, Nelson, Davenport, Edmunds. Fitz and James are both very good talents but neither is totally elite and for safety, a bit too rich for my blood.

Davenport, Edmunds, Landry - anyone not named Nelson. Pace just let go of a guard who made the pro bowl in 2016, 5th ranked guard in 2017, allowed only 3 sacks combined in 2016 and 2017 just to take another frickin guard?

Then we don't need Davenport, Edmunds or Landry because we just let go of Young.

And Young was a 7th rounder so we should be able to get good rushers in the 7th whereas Sitton was a 4th rounder so I guess that means positional value dictates that G > rusher because the draft is no longer about BPA, it's all about "positional value".

Please CCS, go back to claiming Jeffery or some other future great is not an NFL player for your rationalization of your draft wishes so we can at least resurrect your post to laugh at you later.

Vikings Harrison Smith 6’2 213lb 4.57 19 Reps 1st Round #29

Chiefs Eric Berry 6’0 211lb 4.47 19 Reps
1st Round #5 pick

Seahawks Earl Thomas 5’10 208lb 4.49 21 Reps
1st Round #14

Jaguars Jalen Ramsey 6’1 209lb 4.41 14 Reps
1st round #5

Please stop the madness saying
Derwin James 6’2 214lb 4.47 21 Reps
isnt worthy of being the Bears selection. His athleticism is on par with all those above and NFL.com says his direct comparable is Eric Berry with a score of 6.44 aka instant starter.

If any of the above players were added to the Bears unit it would likely be a top 5 defensive unit. Derwin James is easily worth #8.

Certain players are above PV and Nelson is that. Protecting MT and blowing run holes for the next 10 years.

We dont need a fucking safety in the first round especially not a SS.
Eddie Jackson FS Adrian Amos SS are our starting Safeties. Minkah Nelson edmund ward would be better choices by a mile.

Fitz is also a safety genius, and COULD play nickleback... which is the same damn thing James COULD do. The difference is James is stronger, bigger, tackles better, and could actually play LB.

Fitz had 14 reps of 225 in comparison to 21 reps of James. NFL.com also ranks Fitz lower 6.19 vs 6.44. Fitz has shown better ball skills however which does have value, but to claim he is a better choice by miles is little more than hyperbole.

Nelson is great but there are other very good OG’s in this draft so lets say the Bears get James in the 1st and Isaiah Wynn in the second... thats excellent.

Edmunds is an Urlacher clone physically but does he have Brians intangibles??? He isnt a true pass rusher and the Bears arent running a 4-3 with Lovie anymore, thus how valuable will a poor mans Urlacher really be in the grand scheme of things?

Nelson, Nelson, Nelson don't dick around
Y'know, the last time I heard an OL prospect being touted out the wazzu like Nelson was Tony Mandarich. How'd that work out?

Too much emphasis here on filling need positions. At #8, I want someone who has the potential to become a real difference maker, preferably at one of the impact positions. Less concerned about his readiness to contribute right away than his potential to become the next Urlacher-level player. So my top three are:

1] Edmunds (the one that the Bears have evaluated as someone who can develop into a force on the outside...)
2] Davenport
3] Edmunds (the one that the Bears end up evaluating as likely to be largely an inside guy)

I could understand Nelson, but if that's who it ends up being, I hope its because they just didn't like Edmunds or Davenport that much, not because they want to play it safe and take the surer thing at the lower-impact position...

So Orlando Pace taken and projected #1 in '97 wasn't hyped up? Or did you just have to go back to '89 to find an oline bust?

Mandarich was a roid head with attitude and alcohol issues. He was lazy, and not even very talented. He's the prime example of falling in love at the combine.

Nelson is hyped because he fucking mauls people and doesn't quit. It's all on tape. No combine workouts to drool over.

They aren't even comparable
