Roy is certainly the odd-man-out in the center world. Can he do the job? I think so, he is another one I keep an ear out on for some reason. But he is small...in fact he was my "proof" with Kane at center being a terrible idea as Roy was the only center as small as Kane was. But I dont think he will go anywhere. He is an organ-i-zation player who has been built and groomed in AHL too.

and the stars are yet again hovering around that 8th spot like they always are. Im not sure if dallas are going to be sellers now and if they were i dont think roy would get moved either no matter how much i would like him despite him being small. if officials actually called interference as they are suppossed to then smaller meker players would inherit the earth.

Okay, just saw an news flash that Talbot has a broken leg and it out for the Flyers so if you folks didn't think they were already toast! before they most certainly are now. They should be sellers. Anything we can poach from them?

if wayne simmons werent a rw i would inquire. he would be a good depth guy if he would agree to play 4th line.

i never realized how crappy the flyers forward roster actually is. old and a beat up roster as far as depth goes. what happened to them? cap issues get em?

Yotes seem done, 6 game loosing streak Smith injured, new ownership and a possible move in the off season. Seems like we could get Vermette or Hanzal for the right package

With Jagr being out there...I think it would be funny if the Hawks got him...and CHI beats PITT in the finals.

He wins his first cup as a rookie vs CHI as a 19yr old...then goes and beats PITT to win his last cup at 41 with CHI

Rides off into the sunset...

if we got vermette i'll officially be a satisfied armchair gm. Wanted him from the Sens back in the day. Oduya and Vermette were my fav non-hawks in their early days.

Jagr traded to Boston

Well, it'll be funny if the Bruins take out the Pens, since Jagr was on the Flyers last year when they took out the Pens.

I'm a little upset about the complete lack of E5's in here.

Could Streit be dealt?

It appears the New York Islanders and Mark Streit won't hammer out a pre-trade deadline extension after all. However, that doesn't mean the club is looking to move the UFA-to-be either. Newsday's Arthur Staple suggests the Islanders are still hoping to extend their relationship with the veteran defenseman.

"... as @DarrenDreger reported, #Isles and Mark Streit unable to agree on extension at this point, but highly unlikely Streit is traded ... #Isles still want to bring Streit back next season and beyond, and playoff push would take a blow if the captain were dealt ..."

GM Garth Snow would presumable have to be blown away with an offer to trade Streit in the next 24 hours.

Roy trade talk (update)

UPDATE: Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos reports the Dallas Stars have dealt center Derek Roy to the Vancouver Canucks for a second-round draft pick and a prospect (defenseman Kevin Connauton, as per TSN's Bob McKenzie).

***
Look for the Dallas Stars to move Derek Roy in the next 48 hours. RDS' Renaud Lavoie reports the Stars are no longer discussing an extension with the 29-year-old center.

"... No more contract extension talks for #stars Derek Roy. Hearing (Vancouver Canucks) have interest in him. We'll see if he'll be traded or not ..."

Talk of the Canucks' interest in Roy comes as no surprise -- considering the club's need for a top-six center. In any case, the UFA-to-be could serve as a valuable rental for one of several playoff contenders.

How long until Roy bites someone or pulls their hair or whines like a 9 year old girl with a skinned knee?

The person that I know that walks Sharp's dog told me that he was walking Sharp's dog and saw Bowmans dog walker and he told him that the word is that Bowman was thinking Ribiero was his target.

i thought you said Roy sucks.

Seeing that the Hawks dont have a 2nd round pick to deal if sure that came into play if the Hawks even talked to Dallas (i doubt they did by the sounds of things). Never know what else goes on in these negotiations and such. im surprised joe delt within the conference to be honest.

Canucks kind of robbed Dallas even though he is probably only going to be a rental and wasnt resigning in dallas. I actually don't think Roy will do well under the Canucks system. A little weirded out by the thoughts of him in Vancouver I see the need for Vancouver but I don't see the fit. Joe could have got more I am sure.

Oh well I wanted him. Moving on now and I have to learn to hate Roy.

Roy cost next to nothing. Basically Olsen and a 2nd. For that cost, you at least give it a shot.... He's not a great fit, but he's better than any other options right now.

Stan isn't going to make any other moves. You can bank on that. It seems like every other contender is making moves to improve. I still think the Hawks are one of the strongest contenders right now, but if you can improve those chances without mortgaging the future, you fucking do it.
