Fine with me. He's a lifetime .250 hitter...the Cubs have a better hitter cooling his heels over in Iowa right now plus an over abundance of outfielders.

If we get somebody it better be a guy who can hit a sacrifice fly. Nobody else on the team sure as heck can't.

I'll be disappointed if they don't get another bat..

I'm not buying that Soler and Cogs will help ignite the offense the rest of year and post season..
Once Aug1st goes by gonna be harder to make a deal to get a bat..

Soler is not the answer. AA pitching is dominating him right now

Pirates waved the division white flag to the Cubs

This is why I didn't like the Chapman deal. Nats gave up so much less to get Melancon. Now maybe the pirates wouldn't have dealt with the cubs but the point was always there were different options out there. Oh well, what's done is done.

Andrew Miller apparently to the Indians per Ken Rosenthal. If they get him and Lucroy they will be pretty tough.

I was just coming to post this. They have to now be the overwhelming favorite in the AL.
If Lucroy says yes, their WS favorites

Cubs still need to add a solid LH bat , Cogs not that answer

I'm not at all thinking the Cubs will get to the World Series but for the fun of it, let me just say

The world ends with an Indians vs Cubs world series

Sounds like he veto'd because some of the players reportedly in that deal are in the Miller deal.

@JonHeyman: cubs were one "mystery team" in on lucroy. talk never went far because cubs saw an "in division tax" in asking price.

Interesting...wonder if they would of released Montero or tried to trade first

The yanks farm system is going to be crazy good. They turned 2 relievers into Torres, McKinney, Crawford, and Warren plus Clint Frazier, Justus Sheffield, Ben Heller and J.P. Feyereisen. Feel like the cubs got a bit played in this one. Apparently they wanted Miller more than Chapman and the return cleveland gave up was basically the same. Frazier and Torres are similar prospects. Sheffield is a bottom top 100 guy. Heller is cleveland's #30 prospect and Feyereisen is much.

After this NY has the #24, #26, #27, #32, #39, #64, and #99 prospects. If there is one silver lining it's that they don't yet possess top 10 types but damn that's a deep farm system and they will be able to go after IFA's again next year I believe.

To follow this up, apparently I read it wrong.

11:08pm: Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports tweets that top catching prospect Francisco Mejia would head to the Brewers in the deal. Yahoo’s Jeff Passan tweets that one of left-hander Justus Sheffield or right-hander Triston McKenzie could be in the deal as well, and Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer also mentions Sheffield as a possibility (Twitter link). Rosenthal tweets that shortstop Yu-Cheng Chang and outfielder Greg Allen are going to the Brewers as well, if he approves the trade.

So it's not Sheffield for sure it's him or McKenzie.

I had read earlier that the yanks liked the players in Indians system better then cubs..

So, they may have the ones they received from Indians ranked higher on their chart

1. Not concerned on Miller. Yanks came off as shady due to them saying one thing and doing another with Miller.

2. Lucroy. Not surprising that Theo kicked the tires here. Contreas is not ready and Montero is a void at the plate.

3. LF: With Baez's improvement vs RHP it frees up Zobrist to play there. Having Cog help out in the OF should let Fowler get back to 100%. Fowler has done little after his first game and that might have been a amped up game. So we can see why they chose to promote Cogs.

They could just let Fowler get 100% then bring back up LaSorta and remove Cog. Play Baez every day and have Bryant and Zobrist rotate in the OF.

I believe that they want Schwarber in LF next year. They are not going to block that. Soler has value as his platoon split there.

It's not that the pirates wouldnt trade with the Cubs. The Cubs don't want their prospects traded within the division

Maybe but given the way it all played out, feels like Cashman totally used the cubs desperation to drive up the price for them and then that made the price on Miller even more clear and the cubs not only end up with the less desirable player from their perspective but they also payed a ton to get him. I'm not going to be super bent over it forever but I obviously didn't like the move to begin with that much and the fact it played out like this doesn't really help matters.

Also Lucroy exercised his veto.

I remember a few guys here that claimed Theo was going to abuse Cashman. Idiots
