Of course, it sounds great....because it makes no sense for the Patriots to do this and its heavily lopsided in the bears' favor.
The Pats' best pass rusher was Keion White with 5 sacks and 7 TFL. Let's assume Carter is there at 4, why are the Pats trading the pick when he makes all the sense in the world? Especially if he's as good as advertised.
And then let's snuff out this poorly thought-out fantasy entirely--let's say I'm wrong about the Pats staying put and taking Carter, and they DO take calls to talk turkey about a trade.
They sure asaren't taking DJ Moore, moving back 6 spots to 10, and THEN giving up a 2nd rounder on top of it. This trade could only make sense in the mind of someone who just huffed some of what I can only assume to be a quality paint canister.
The Pats trade that pick because someone wants a QB who fell to 4 and is giving them a trade package that starts with them getting two 1sts and a slew of 2/3/4/late rounders. Depending on whether the team is desperate enough to want one but their pick is later in the 1st, if the right QB is there, they could get three 1sts, which then they'll probably give back a 2nd.
Can't believe no one else mentioned this. After shaking my head about the Bears end of the trade I'm like, wait why would NE???
Remember that one time when the bears moved back 8 spots and got DJ (on a cheaper deal) plus a shart ton of picks?
So now NE moves back 6 spots for DJ after a down and pouty year on a bigger contract plus they give up a high second?
