Of course, it sounds great....because it makes no sense for the Patriots to do this and its heavily lopsided in the bears' favor.

The Pats' best pass rusher was Keion White with 5 sacks and 7 TFL. Let's assume Carter is there at 4, why are the Pats trading the pick when he makes all the sense in the world? Especially if he's as good as advertised.

And then let's snuff out this poorly thought-out fantasy entirely--let's say I'm wrong about the Pats staying put and taking Carter, and they DO take calls to talk turkey about a trade.

They sure as 🤬 aren't taking DJ Moore, moving back 6 spots to 10, and THEN giving up a 2nd rounder on top of it. This trade could only make sense in the mind of someone who just huffed some of what I can only assume to be a quality paint canister.

The Pats trade that pick because someone wants a QB who fell to 4 and is giving them a trade package that starts with them getting two 1sts and a slew of 2/3/4/late rounders. Depending on whether the team is desperate enough to want one but their pick is later in the 1st, if the right QB is there, they could get three 1sts, which then they'll probably give back a 2nd.

Can't believe no one else mentioned this. After shaking my head about the Bears end of the trade I'm like, wait why would NE???

Remember that one time when the bears moved back 8 spots and got DJ (on a cheaper deal) plus a shart ton of picks?

So now NE moves back 6 spots for DJ after a down and pouty year on a bigger contract plus they give up a high second?

We have seen what DJ Moore has done with Getsy and Waldron calling plays. Imagine him in an offense that Ben Johnson has designed and calls where WRs are running open and the run game is schemed so that the pass game opens up. DJ is way to valuable for the Bears to trade.

D.J. would also shine in a McCarthy offense as well.

This is so Bears. Let's trade our best offensive weapon, the receiver that we've needed for years, to get a lottery ticket. And then we can draft another lottery ticket to take his place. And wait. It gets better, then as Bears fans we have something to complain about when Rome is getting doubled every down cause Joe Blow 3rd round pick can't get open. How about we trade Edmonds, he's the only person that is getting paid big$$ and not worth it.

Cant really trade him either because no one wants that contract for his play. Similar to the zach lavine situation, who's trying to trade for a max player who isnt a max level player?

And you cant cut him this year due to dead cap vs. cap savings(13m in dead cap vs 4m in savings).

He's a bear next year, good news is they can cut him after 2025 and save 15m. I'd be shocked if hes on the roster in 2026

Titans traded AJ Brown and got the great Treylon Burks though.

I never said I would do the trade. But getting Carter and an extra 2nd plus more cap would be something most people would seriously consider.

But I would also be all for keeping DJ plus a guy like Nolen or Mykel Williams at 10.

We would have to take a large cap hit this year of 36 mil if we trade him. If we do anything with him, it makes more sense to do it next off-season when it would actually save us cap space.

I say give it another year under a new offensive play caller. See how it goes. There is no guarentee that K. Allen is gonna be back, plus he will be 33. If this upcoming season goes south again, especially from the offensive perspective, than you entertain trading Moore. He is too good of a piece to help your young QB to just get rid of and hope you can find a replacement later in the draft.

Very good points. Can’t say I disagree.

Like others, depends on what the corresponding moves are. Lets say we trade up to 4 take abdul or mason graham, sign trey smith, then trade up with our extra 2nd plus a 3rd and take a falling OT, I'll be fine with it. Then take another wr with the other 2nd and another OL with the 3rd 2nd.

These would be prime Pace type of moves and overall work out just as bad.

Remember when CCS thought the Bears would trade Cutler for a 1st round pick? This is asinine.

So since we’re in the rumor mill season, thought I’d share something I heard (Benjamin Solak?) regarding a trade of DJ Moore to the Patriots.

What if:
Bears move up to 4 and get Pats pick 2-38.
Pats get pick 10 and DJ Moore.
Is that fair value?

Pros:
-Abdul Carter is likely a Bear
-3 2nd round picks; ie 1 DT and 2 OL
-more cap space

Cons:
-DJ Moore is a stud
-just signed the long-term extension
I’m not saying I would do this trade or not. Obviously the biggest factor would be DJ’s state of mind. One has to think he wants to stay in Chi long term due to the extension

DJ would get a decent return but im not sure what the point is.

NFL teams nowadays need at least 2 good WR's. You are just hurting caleb and the future of this team trading him.

Why in the fucking world would a team give up a good pick for dj moore and that contract vs. just signing godwin or higgins and keeping their picks?
Why in the fucking world would a team trade a pick for Montez sweat and sign him to a contract vs. just signing Danielle hunter or greenard and keeping their picks?

Because players actually have to want to go to the team?

Do you know how free agency works?

Are you seriously that simple? I posted your exact post and switched the names and suddenly it makes perfect sense to you? 😂😂😂😂

Anyway, I found the proposal interesting and worth at least considering. But maybe that is because Carter is my favorite player in the draft.

Trades generally have to make sense for both sides.

If I look at this from the Patriots side of things, it makes little sense to me.

So, no, I wouldn't get my hopes up.
