If I look at this from the Patriots side of things, it makes little sense to me.

True. I’ve said I want DJ to remain a Bear. I just saw this idea floating on the interwebs, and if it was proposed, it would be something to seriously consider.

I guess it depends on if you feel DJ is worth a mid 1st round pick plus $16m out of pocket as that's the overall value of the trade. I could see it but doubt it would ever happen.

Obviously the Pats would take on the contract, electing to pair Maye with a proven WR after failing to land Tee Higgins. The other candidate mentioned in the article is DK Metcalf.

Obviously this wouldn’t happen unless DJ has made it clear he would rather play for NE despite the recent extension.

I don’t know man, I just think it’s interesting analyzing these kinds of scenarios.

The contract goes with the trade but Bears would still need to eat an extra $16m in cap space, of DJ's signing bonus that's already on their books. Is it worth losing $16m, $12m extra accelerated against the cap this year and a Debo type WR for the value of a mid 1st?
